Matthew Williamson Helps New Talent

10 months ago 25th Jan 11:52

Matthew Williamson is on a mission to help talented new designers break into the industry by taking part in a new BBC scheme.

The British designer has joined forces with BBC Blast, which is a creative scheme to help teenagers gain experience within the art and media industry.

The five perspective wannabe designers will get the chance to work at Williamson's London Design Museum, and the lucky winner will assist the designer for a day- getting a priceless insight into the industry.

The first challenge was to design an outfit which takes inspiration from Mexico and the future. Entries were then whittled down to five finalists aged between 16-19 years old.

Williamson is thrilled to be taking part in BBC’s venture and feels strongly about helping youths discover their talents.

"I am thrilled to be involved with BBC Blast for the Matthew Williamson competition and hope that it may help many young people discover their talents for design," Williamson says.

"I have a huge amount of respect for BBC Blast and how it provides design opportunities and builds creative communities."
