Marks and Spencer have been named Reatiler of the Year in an awards ceremony honouring the best stores on the high street.

The Comfort Prima High Street Fashion Awards 2007 also saw prizes goin to Accesorize, Debenhams and Dorothy Perkins. Primark beat off all the other discount fashion stores to be crowned as Best Value for Money while Next sweeped the board scoring six awards including Best Shoes, Best Jeans and Best Webste Shopping.

The ceremony took place at the Battersea Evolution Marquee, Battersea Park on Thursday and was attended by a host of celebrity fashion fans including Caprice, Lady Isabella Hervey, Nancy Sorrell, Jermaine Defoe and Big Brother wannabes Charley and Aisleyne.

Voted for by over 12,500 high street shoppers across the country, awards were presented to the favourite high street fashion retailers in twenty-one different categories.

Comfort brand manager Shelley Norris said “It has been a difficult couple of months for high street retailers, so it was great to be able to help celebrate all the fantastic fashion that makes the UK high streets so hard to beat. Comfort is all about feeling good in your clothes, no matter what the price tag, and we were thrilled to be supporting the high street and showcasing some of the best retailers that make is so special”.
