The head of George fashion at Asda has unexpectedly quit her job.
Angela Spindler executive director of Asda and global managing director of George resigned with immediate effect last week.
The official line from Asda is that she has left due to "family reasons" but she leaves the company as it's growth slows compared to it's discount clothing rivals, including Primark and Tesco.
Andy Bond,Asda chief executive, who previously ran the George label, has taken day-to-control of the business until a replacement is found, reports the Guardian.
He will be supported by chief operating officer Mark Daynes and brand director Fiona Lambert, a former George executive who recently who rejoined Asda from Next.
Ms Spindler was responsible for bringing in Coleen McLoughlin as the face of George and recently announced plans to start selling Asda clothes online next year.
