Women in the UK prefer the simple things in life according to a new survey and Alex Curran is on a leap year mission to make sure us girls make the most of that extra day.
Us ladies are three and a half times more likely to opt for a nice cup of tea over a glamorous glass of champagne, according to the report by Galaxy.
More surprisingly the research also showed simple pleasures including a shoulder rub, being cooked dinner, or a night curled up on the sofa with a film and a bar of chocolate are all six times more desirable than an expensive gift.
Despite her big spending WAG reputation Alex Curran, wife of Steven Gerard, is a big fan of the simple things: “The findings certainly ring true in my life. My husband, Steven, warms up my car for me when I am in a rush and he fills it up with petrol on his way home so I don’t have to," she said, "Things like this give me little boosts every day and mean the world to me.”
Psychologist and life coach, Dr. Sally Ann Law also agrees with the Galaxy Happiness report: "Trying to build in a few little everyday indulgences will in fact increase our overall happiness significantly," she said.
"It’s easy to forget what a difference these little things can make, so we find ourselves indulging in impulse buying for a quick fix from time to time. However, when it comes to true, lasting happiness, it’s the little things that make the real difference.”
Check out Alex’s top tips on how to make the 29th a fabulous day full of indulgences:
