Available from April 23rd (download) and May 7th (CD & 7)Australian troubadour Josh Pyke will release his debut single in the UK on May 7th 2007. Entitled Middle Of The Hill, its taken from his forthcoming debut album proper Memories And Dust, which will be released on May 21st.Memories And Dust recently entered the Australian album charts in the top 5.Middle Of The Hill is absolutely my most personal and literal song, yet whats funny is it seems to be the one which most people have connected to on some personal level for them as well. Josh Pyke is talking about the song thats seriously raised his profile in Australia, and is about to do the same here. The thing is its a totally true story about growing up, my sisters, my family, which just flowed out in a stream-of-consciousness style. When people say - ah, youre singing about my life! - I think: Really? Was there really a girl up your road whose dog had its voice box chopped out with an axe? And two strange men in a white van who said the phone booth was loaded with money? Because those things did happen to me, and I cant imagine they happened in two places in Australia at the same time But I guess everyone had a childhood, everybodys got a family one way or another, so theres that common universal vibe Josh Pyke has had a busy 2007 so far, having toured the UK twice once headlining and once in support of Scott Matthews and completed a successful weekly residency at Londons Luminaire.Josh is filming a weekly video blog in the run-up to the release of Memories and Dust: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=joshpykehq
