Queen of daytime television, Lorraine Kelly, is calling on people to take part in Cake Time, a fun and simple new fundraising campaign in aid of Shelter.
The first lady of breakfast TV has generously donated her very own recipe for fabulously fruity scones in support of Cake Time, which asks people to bake or buy their favourite cake and share it with friends, family or colleagues to help raise vital funds for the housing and homelessness charity.
Lorraine's fruity scones are just one of a host of celebrity cake recipes that have been given in aid of Cake Time, which is being supported by Billington's unrefined sugar. Other recipes include; Sarah Beeny's chocolate muffins, Nigel Slater's coffee and walnut cake and Aldo Zilli's baked honey and ricotta cheesecake. All these and many more are can be found on Shelter's website.
Those who simply don't have time to cook a treat can pick up a cake from a local bakery or supermarket. Either way, everyone who takes part in Cake Time will get a delicious slice of cake safe in the knowledge that the money raised will make a real difference to homeless and badly housed people in Britain.
Lorraine Kelly said: "There's no time like Cake Time. Treat yourself to my favourite scones and you'll enjoy them even more knowing that every bite is helping Shelter."
Ray Merrick, director at Billington's said: "Billington's is delighted to be able to support Shelter's Cake Time. We know there are lots of people out there who love to bake and this is the perfect opportunity for them to get out the mixing bowl and make something delicious. We hope everyone, including those who have never baked before, will take up the challenge."
Cake week runs 19th - 25th April 2008, but friends and colleagues can also support Shelter and indulge in Cake Time whenever it suits them best.
