kate Winslet's Nude Scene Causes Controversy

Kate Winslet's Full Frontal Nude scene in her new Holocaust movie The Reader has come under criticism from a string of critics in the US.

The film follows Winslet, a Nazi concentration camp guard, who finds herself on trials for war crimes, accused of killing three hundred Jews.

But the full frontal nude scenes that appear in the film, directed by Stephen Daldry, have been accused of 'trivialising the subject of the Holocaust', by a writer of the New York Post.

"What is especially repellent is the use of Kate Winslet's nubile body to create sympathy for a repellent character, whose triumph over illiteracy somehow mitigates unspeakable crimes which are never actually depicted on-screen," said art critic Charlie Finch in the newspaper.

Despite this Winslet is still hotly tipped to gain her sixth Oscar nomination for her role, she is also in with a chance for her role alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Revolutionary Road, which is directed by her husband Sam Mendes.

Her first Oscar nomination came in 1995 for her supporting role as Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility. She has since been nominated for Titanic, Iris, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, her last nomination coming in 2006 for Little Children.
