Morrissey will headline a night of the O2 Wireless Festival in London's Hyde Park on July 4.
The former Smiths star is expected to play tracks from his upcoming studio album, as well as a few of his most famous hits, during the performance - which is set to be his only UK festival date.
He said: "I am honoured to be asked to headline on July 4, marking my 26th year haunting British music, and following the Hyde Park greats - T Rex, Joan Armatrading, and someone with insecure teeth.
"I promise a thundering bill of tight nerves and suavity. I will take Hyde Park like a flea inhabits a dog. Art-hounds and people with badly cut hair are very welcome. I shall do my utmost not to pull a sour face. Bring your own lodging-house towels, but don't expect any three-shrimp appetizers."
The 48-year-old musician will be joined by Fatboy Slim, Beck, Counting Crows and The National at the O2 Wireless Festival, which runs in London from July 3 to 6.
The headline act for the first night has yet to be announced.
Sally Cowdry, the marketing director of O2 UK, said: "Now in its fourth year, the O2 Wireless Festival continues to go from strength to strength and this year's line-up further cements its reputation as one of the UK's top music events."
