Coldplay Ends British Number Ones Drought In U.S.....
In reaching the top of the U.S. singles chart with Violet Hill last week (ends20Jun08), Coldplay have become the first British act in over a decade to get to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
The last British act to achieve the feat was the Spice Girls, who reached number one with Wannabe in 1997.
Coldplay toppled Lil Wayne's Lollipop to get to the top of the charts. The Brits are expected to double up later this week (ends 27Jun08) when their new album, Vida La Vida, unseats Lil Wayne at the top of the album charts.
