10-01-2006 00:00

Bryan Adams To Rock For Pakistan Quake Victims.

Canadian rocker BRYAN ADAMS is set to perform in Karachi, Pakistan, later this month (JAN06) to raise money for the victims of the October (05) earthquake.

The PLEASE FORGIVE ME hitmaker, 46, will be the first Western musician to play in Pakistan since the "war on terror" began in late 2001, following the September 11th (01) attacks in New York and Washington DC.

Organiser SALMAN IQBAL says, "Bryan is coming to Karachi to perform and help us raise funds for the October 8 earthquake victims.

"We want to show to the world that Pakistan is a friendly country and its people love music and Karachi is no more a troubled city."

Nearly 74,000 people were killed and over 3.5 million people are currently homeless following the horrific quake last year (05).

Fellow organiser AHMED SHAD adds, "We came into contact with Adams before the 9/11 and he was willing to perform here but the terrorist attacks on United States and the subsequent war in Afghanistan foiled our efforts.
