Simon Cowell reportedly met with Andrew Silverman to ensure he wouldn't be mentioned in his divorce papers.
The TV mogul visited the property developer at a New York airport to discuss his now-finalised divorce from Lauren - who is pregnant with Simon's first child - and ensure he wouldn't be mentioned as part of the legal separation, which was finalised earlier this month.
Simon and Andrew ended the meeting on amicable terms, with 'The X Factor' star insisting he will do everything he can to make things right between them.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Cowell and his legal team wanted his name removed from the divorce papers so this does not tarnish him.
"Cowell wanted a face-to-face meeting to clear the air and make sure Andrew wouldn't speak out about him.
"No money changed hands, but Simon made Andrew feel good, said he feels bad about the situation, he will take care of everything and he hoped they will remain friends.
"Andrew really wants to keep his friendship with Cowell. The meeting ended with them shaking hands and an agreement their discussion would remain confidential."
Andrew had initially included Simon's name as co-respondent when he filed for divorce from Lauren on the grounds of adultery, which could have led to him having to testify later in legal proceedings, but after the meeting the couple reached a settlement out of court.
Andrew and Lauren have a seven-year-old son, Adam, together.
Meanwhile, Lauren was reunited with Simon yesterday (21.08.13) for the first time since her divorce was finalised. She landed in Nice airport in the South of France to meet up with the 53-year-old star, who is holidaying on a yacht there.
