Pete Doherty wants former bandmate Carl Barat to be his best man.
Pete, who fell out with Carl after he threw him out of The Libertines, has buried the hatchet and is desperate for Carl to be there when he marries supermodel Kate Moss.
Carl, who is the lead singer of new group Dirty Pretty Things, admits he was surprised by Pete's request and has hinted the wedding could take place soon.
Carl is quoted by Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "We had a heart-to-heart and Pete asked me if I'd be his best man. At first I thought he was joking. But he told me he and Kate were desperate to marry.
"I was shocked but delighted. I'm touched that after all we've been through we could finally put it behind us and move on."
Carl has already started planning his speech for the big day.
He said: "Pete suggested I do a reading, something from Chekhov."
