According to the French electro trio their new single Filthy Love, the first from the debut LP Explicit Pictures, is about contradictions and the stupidity of life and how we try to deal with it.
"Sometimes you need love so much," they say, "that you take any piece of love even if it's filthy and doomed because you always try to see the tiny coloured and hopeful things when your life is a black and white movie. And then, even in the dark, you'll find your way to happiness." If they say so.
At first glance Filthy Love isn't any of those things. What it is however is a minimal electro dance track with a distinct European feel, an infectious beat and a dreamy vocal.
After a couple of listens the bands analysis starts to make sense but whether you'd decipher that without them telling you so is unclear.
Nevertheless the track is infectious, despite its repetitiveness, with a dark hypnotic undercurrent devised by Lille native three-piece - lead singer and keyboard player Clo Floret, guitarist Thomas Fourny and drummer Cyril Debarge.
The thoughtful dance music evokes an intoxicating blend of sex, sass and sleaze which feels passionate and at the same time effortless.
We Are Enfant Terrible offer not only an alternative to the hordes of electronica being mass produced in the UK but a delicious slice of French cool evident in the bands shared passion for underground fashion.
Verdict: 3/5
