Matt Bellamy's drug 'doorway'

11-05-2008 08:50

Matt Bellamy uses drugs once a year to "open up new doorways".

The Muse frontman insists he isn't a regular drug user but does indulge in hallucinogenics every 12 months.

He said: "I'm not really in favour of drugs. Setting aside one day a year for hallucinogenics definitely opens up new doorways."

The 'Supermassive Black Hole' singer's most recent experience with illegal substances involved the band hiring a bouncy castle and dressing up as aliens for a party in Las Vegas.

He added to Q magazine: "That was the last time I did magic mushrooms actually. "Dom [Howard, Muse drummer] had a dog mask on and he ran off into the desert and I ran after him. For a minute I was actually in a Salvador Dali painting. If you look at his painting 'The Elephants', I was the little person at the bottom of those elephants' legs."

Muse are currently working on the follow-up their 2006 album 'Black Holes and Revelations'.
