Charlie Simpson's debut single down down down is currently Fearne Cotton's record of the week on Radio 1.
The single is taken from the forthcoming album Young Pilgrim and is written by Charlie himself and produced by Danton Supple of Coldplay fame.
Down Down Down is a rock triumph miles away from the pop that Busted once made. The tender string section and haunting overlaid vocal parts entwine with the rough and ready guitar string squeaks.
"I definately want this to be the first picture people see," says Charlie. "A lot of people say, what is your solo stuff like? because they don't really have an idea. I would always play Down Down Down to them to show them. It's a nice representation of what else is to come..."
the song has been influenced by artists such as The Beach Boys, Jackson Browne and Elliot Smith which is obvious when listening to the sheer musicality and heartfelt emotion of the song
The single is the first song to be released on Young Pilgrim which will be available to purchase on August 15th. The single is available to download now on Itunes or you can download a three track EP featuring the original demo of Down Down Down is available at www.charliesimpsonmusic.com
