Pixie Lott

Pixie Lott

As 2009 draws to a close and we all wonder how to pronounce 2010 (is it twenty ten, or two thousand and ten?!) we thought it was only right that take a look back at the past 12 months in an organised fashion… and what better way to be organised, than by alphabetising?

P is for Pixie Lott - Pixie Lott had a brilliant year with her debut and second singles Mama Do and Boys And Girls shooting straight to the top of the charts as well as bagging herself the Best UK & Ireland Act at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards.

Q is for Queen - Queen and Paul Rodgers split up on 12 May 2009 but Rodgers does not rule out the possibility of working together again. However, a new Greatest Hits compilation named Queen: Absolute Greatest was released on 16 November and  peaked at #3 in the official UK chart. Most excitingly though, On 15 November 2009, Brian May and Roger Taylor performed live on the UK TV show The X Factor with the finalists!

R is for Robbie Williams - Robbie Williams was without a doubt one of my favourite ‘comeback’ stars of 2009 with his new album Reality Killed the Video Star. Whilst his ‘comeback’ was slightly marred by people speculating that he was off his face during his live comeback on The X Factor, I still love him, and his new album is perfect for working out to!

S is for Susan Boyle - Su-Bo… what a hero! Proving that you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, she might have lost out to dance troupe Diversity on Britain’s Got Talent, but she sure as hell won over the music world. Disagree? Well considering her album broke world records before it was even released, I think you owe the ‘Hairy Angel’ and apology.

T is for Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift has always been admired by teens and country fans, but in my opinion, she was always overshadowed by her mate Miley Cyrus - until Kanye West made a complete plonker of himself at the MTV Video Music Awards by taking the mic off her and announcing that Beyonce should have won the award for Best Female Video. You know what they say Taylor, all publicity is good publicity… and it certainly worked for you.
