While there have been a whole host of great movies that have graced the big screen this year there was only one movie that was going to be out best movie of 2010... and that was of course Inception.
Yes after a two year hiatus Christopher Nolan, yes The Dark Knight was the last time that we saw the filmmaker in the director's chair, was back and he assembled an awesome cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy and Michael Caine.
Christopher Nolan is a director who is not afraid to push the boundaries of filmmaking as he has brought a string of intriguing plots and complex characters to the big screen over the years.
And he continues this trend with Inception - this is a movie that you really need to sit and watch.
Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable.
Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.
Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception.
Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one.
If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move.
This is the most original and exhilarating that has hit the big screen in many a year and once again Nolan's complex narrative and plot tests the audience.
Inception is a maze from the off as Nolan adds layer upon layer to the story as the audience takes a trip into a dream world and an exploration of the subconscious.
Leonardo DiCaprio is once again outstanding as central character Dom Cobb a tortured soul who is haunted by the decisions of his past.
Ellen Page is also excellent as the moral compass of the group while Joseph Gordon Levitt has the most fun of the cast in an excellent action sequence.
While Inception is an intense and complex story Nolan never loses his focus and the story is always coherent and well structured.
With a $200 budget the movie is visually stunning as Nolan creates a unique and complex universe that just looks breath-taking.
Inception is not only the best movie that has graced the big screen so far this year but one of the best, and most original, sc-fi films that we have had the pleasure of watching.
Christopher Nolan is one of the most exciting directors working in Hollywood today and Inception is just another example of his bold and innovative filmmaking.
Inception is an ambitious movie that will not disappoint and has an ending that will eave you desperately wanting more! This is filmmaking of the highest order!
