Jay-Z Launches Roc Nation Headphones
Rap superstar Jay-Z is following in the footsteps of DR. DRE and releasing his own line of headphones.
The iconic hip-hop producer and rapper launched his Beats By Dre collection in 2008, in association with electronics company Monster.
He has since gone on to team up with Lady GaGa and Sean 'Diddy' Combs to launch their own special designs of audio equipment.
Now Jay-Z is giving them some competition in the marketplace - he's unveiled a new venture for his management/publishing company Roc Nation with headphone experts Skullcandy.
The Roc Nation Aviator, touted by Skullcandy reps as "pushing new levels" of style and sound in the audio industry, is made with superior metals and plush memory foam ear cushions.
Jay-Z says in a statement, "Our passion is creating amazing music. We’re dedicated to delivering the best in live performances. Now with the Roc Nation/Skullcandy partnership, we’re offering the best way for people to experience the soundtrack of their lives."
Rick Alden, Skullcandy CEO, adds, "This partnership is an incredible opportunity for Skullcandy. By teaming up with Roc Nation on both the creative and marketing direction of these new products, we are able to set the bar at a new high - challenging the future quality of what emerges in the industry from here on out."
The Roc Nation Aviator will go on sale in the U.S. in June (10).
Nas Brushes Off Kelis Tattoo Removal
Rapper Nas has dismissed rumours he's planning to have a tattoo bearing the name of his estranged wife Kelis removed.
The I Can star, real name Nasir Jones, split from Kelis last year (09), shortly before the birth of their first son, Knight.
They have been locked in a bitter legal battle over child and spousal support ever since, and reports alleged Nas was looking to undergo laser surgery to have an inking of his ex's name erased from his arm.
But Nas has brushed off the claims, insisting he has no idea where the rumour came from.
He tells Vibe magazine, "No words about any tattoos came from me this year or last year. So I don't know what that is."
And he reveals he's never contemplated having his skin art altered - unless he's expanding his collection.
He adds, "I don't really think about tattoos, I just think about adding more."
