LCD monitor

Viewsonic VX912 19" has gone mad, It is not loosing power but its flashing off and on it wont stay on. It is not the connection leads as we have tried different and also its not the computer we tried it on another computer.

When you take the connection lead out not the power one but the other one the screen stays on it doesnt flash it says NO SIGNAL.

We have tried looking up on the net but cant seem to find anything about it.

Any Help?

If you bought it new then you should contact the seller to tell them it's not working, and film the monitor failing to show them if you can.

Otherwise there are a load of things it could be. Which input are you using - analogue or digital? Is the other monitor / cable you tried the same one?

When it goes off - can you still bring up the on-screen menu? Does the power light go off as well as the display?

No the power light stays Green at all times. Bf doesnt know where the recipet is grrrrrr but he is going to have a look for it.

ok - just the screen going off is signal issue of some kind.

Next thing to do is to drop your resolution and the refresh rate for the monitor - this can be done in the display properties (just right-click the dektop then click - properties - settings) Set the resolution to 1024 x 768 if you can then hit advanced. You should somewhere here have an option for refresh rate - set it to 60Hz. Then try hooking it up again and see what happens.

The native resolution for a 19" LCD is 1280 x 1024. What's the rest of your pc spec? You need a CPU and gfx card powerful enough to run that.

Yeh but why was it working and then it just stops it cant be anything in the settings or it wouldnt have work for the year i have had it surely?

I deliberately suggested those settings to avoid the native resolution CrazyChick. Huny - it was working all year on those settings, but it isn't now, so either - a) someone changed something, or b) something has failed. To find out what failed you need to test things which affect the way the panel behaves which is what changing those settings will do. They aren't a permanent solution, just something which tells us geeks how the thing is behaving (or not).

Do the on screen menus come up if you push the menu button on the monitor when it's "off"?

What input are you using - analogue or digital?

Also - the "radio rentals" method. give it a sharp tap on the top.

Well yeah, but if there's something wrong with the monitor, resolution won't make a darn difference!

Anyhoo, it's most likely either the monitor's power supply or the light panel behind the display, so as you've made sure it's not the cables or your gfx card, I'd recommend sending it in to be repaired.

Huny did check the panel against another machine and said it was ok there.
Also - if I read the post right, she checked another monitor on the machine as well and that was ok.

So if it's going back then it's important to know what is actually wrong with it.

What's the flickering on & off like Huny - is it for seconds / minutes at a time, or is it really quickly?

Its off and on quick its on for 1 second off for 3 seconds and it just does that non stop. We tried using it on Bf comp with cables then put it on my comp with different cables but no luck.

We couldnt get the monitor option menu thing on coz it goes off to quick to look at it. We tried going on to the ViewSonic Website and downloaded some thing thats meant to give you the answer to the problem but it didnt work either just said "monitor not found" which is prob coz its going of and on so it cant pick it up.

Correct the monitor DOESNT work on any pc its doing the same flickering thing

Well in that case, I think it's safe to say that the error is not related to your PC at all. At first I was thinking it could be your gfx card or a driver issue. After eliminating those, it could have been mobo etc. I think you need to return the monitor to where you bought it from Huny!

Thanks for clearing that up Huny. I'm with Cc - I think it has deceased and will need some professional attention...

I hope you can find the receipts if it's still in warranty.

If you do have to pay for the repair then bear in mind you can replace it with a cheap one from about 115 quid and good quality one is about 150 (on your doorstep). And you'll probably be able to get something for your dead panel on ebay (people will buy anything

Yeh bf going to look for the reciept its still in warrenty. He annoyed coz the price he paid for it and now its buggered
