So at age three (like his sister) I pierced both his ears myself. Since he started school wearing earrings no one I know of, including his teachers ever said anything derogotory about his ears being pierced. He is now sixteen and has worn earrings every day of his life since having his ears pierced. He is very masculine (plays on the varsity football team) and the girls think he is so cute and even buy him earrings for his birthday. I would definitely do it all over again and recommend that if you are going to pierce your son's ears-do it well before they start school and pierce both ears.

If his sister had double pierced ears at six, why did't you double pierce yous son's ears when he was six years old?

Since both you and your wife have pierced ears and wear earrings, which you say Jason has already taken an interest in, why don't you and your wife consider having his ears pierced within the next year? I firmly believe (do to my own experience) that Jason will want pierced ears because he will want to be like Mom & Dad.
The sooner it is done, the easier it will be on everyone as there may be an adjustment period for other family members and friends to his having pierced ears. Certainly if he starts kindergarten wearing earrings the other children will be more accepting from that day forward (my son had this experience-he worn them since age three-so all his friends just accept the fact his ears have alwys been pierced).
I hope this helps.
