internet at work

Postby independant69 on Tue Jun 20, 2006 2:15 pm

Ok i'm a bit of a naughty girl at work and i play on the internet when i'm not supposed to.

What i want to know is can the IT boys still see that i've been on it when i delete the history and cookies from the properties on the internet explorer icon, and also delete the cookies from the c drive?

Not just cookie, history, auto complete address, Internet Tempoary files.

Router logging for everyone's visit to those various site.

anythign with server or a router that would be record the log of each computer (IP) and it tells what site been visited. so this cannot be remove unless your a Network Administrator

I think you said it... "honest"...

Probably the best option is to ask if it's OK to use the Internet in your spares and breaks... Or maybe it's best not to say anything, if the bosses are kooks.. It's a tough choice if you don't know all the variables...

What would you to to an employee who wasted a couple hours per day playing on the computer, and not working those hours, yet expecting a pay-cheque for those wasted hours, claimed as work?.. It's not good on a resume.. It's like taking one step forward, and two steps back...

If I worked on a computer as employment.. I'd tell the boss that I'm going to use the Internet occassionally for smut, and occassional personal blogging... And that I will submit an accurate honest time-sheet for the minutes I waste...

Not only that but they also read your emails that come in and go out. Why? Because they are afraid of people leaking out company secrets to competitors. They hire people just for that single purpose of reading employee's emails and nothing else.
Of course it doesn't hurt to F*** them for an hour or so and give them like three to eight orgasms now and again. That generally keeps girls loyal. - Averick

If the security on your PC is low, you may be able to set a proxy server to route all your traffic via. then it would not show on your companies local proxys

even within a domain with a super-tight security enforced..
but the point is: is an employee the rightful owner of that pc? and would you be willing to risk your own job just for a surf?

The network link to the proxy is still visable and in any sensible setup it should trigger an alarm on the firewalls egress filtering. That's the way I do it even on my home firewall.

Attempting to circumvent company network policies whether they are physically inforced or just a rule in the company handbook should be a dismissable offence.

You sound like a bunch of school kids who want to chat on your mobile phones while in class rather than working.

ps. This is sent from work where my employer allows a reasonable level of personal net usage.

I'm going ot be out of a job soon anyway, so i dont really care. I do work when i've got it to do, but i'm a receptionist so my workload depends entirely on other people.
