ok so i need to choose what CPU im getting im going with AMD but im not to sure what cpu to buy its either a

Intel 820D Dual Core 2.8GHz 2MB cache

or


Athlon 64 3200+ CPU

what 1 would be the best? Question Question

Dual Core runs 4 times faster at the moment. i would consdier to go for Dual Core Smile

Its a bit weird tho i live in NZ and the dual core is $300 and the 3200+ is $350

oh and forgot to say the 3200+ is amd and the dual core is a intel

Ive been doing some research on the conroe and it sounds like AMD's are better off not sure tho. i think ill just get either a 3200+ or a 3500+ and maybe upgrade to a conroe when they come out.

hmm..well...I'm not sure. If you want to do o/c then get the 144 opteron, if not the 3200+ is also quite good

Well ive never o/c before and ill only have air cooling, so i probly wont be able to o/c that much. I guess ill just buy the cheapest heh thanks for your help

Dual core is a good way to future proof the pc, at the moment not many applications use both cores well but that will change.

Opteron: They are more for servers where you would be clustering 4 or 8 processors.

Overall the best price/power ratio is just below the top-end, the x23800
is a nice processor and fairly cheap.

I tested the AMDx2 and i dont think conroe is better

its suitable to buy an AMDx2

it is amazing on CAD and Games and the other applications with 2GB Ram
