Hi,

My Automatic VW Sharan V6 is over revving when it gets to about 20mph, I cant seem to get passed this point. It will happily cruise in second gear but only around 30 miles an hour. Changing into 3rd gear makes the engine over revv again and so does putting it in drive which is what I use most of the time.

The Battery light did come on at one point, could a low battery cause this problem or is it something else ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

the battery shouldnt cause any problems , the gears are worked by oil ,have you checked the auto box fluid ? how many miles has the car done ?

Thanks for your reply. A lot of people have said the same thing, about the oil, unfortunately its only accessible from underneath the car. The car has done 83,000 miles. Is it possible its the electronic control unit, as my husband did change a fuse? It is going to be checked at the VW garage on tuesday, but we are just concerned that it could be the gear box and could be an extremely costly repair job. Fingers crossed.

Thank you for your help.
