Tame Your Mane:
Tips to Control Your Summer Frizzies
There's nothing worse then spending an hour getting ready only to walk outside and have your hair instantly look like you've stuck your finger in an electrical outlet. Think there's no cure for your out-of-control locks? Guess again!
The first place to fight frizz is in the shower. Jenny from Hair Cuttery suggests these five tips for getting rid of your summer frizz:
1. Leave your conditioner on for at least 10-15 minutes before rinsing out.
"Frizzy hair usually means your hair is dry, so the more you moisturize, the less likely your hair will frizz." Rinsing your hair with cool water after you condition will "lock down" the hair cuticle and will make your hair appear shiny and less frizzy.
2. Don't rub your hair dry with a towel.
Instead, wrap it up for 15 minutes to get out the excess water. Also, don't brush your hair when it's wet -- use a comb or pick instead. Brushing hair when wet can cause your hair to break and look for frizzy when your hair is dry.
3. Avoid blow dryers and straighteners.
Using heat on your hair makes it frizzier. If you have to have your hair straight, use a cool setting on the blow dryer and with a flat brush blow dry in a downward motion. Never dry your hair against the cuticle, this will lead to more damage.
4. Find a frizz serum.
Add a small amount to your hair and comb through. A little of this stuff goes a long way. You can try Redken Glass -- it works great!
5. Get a good cut.
Ask your stylist what kind of cut is best for your hair type. The more manageable your hair, the less likely your hair will get frizzy during the hot summer months.

"I have Frizz Ease by John Frieda and it's not expensive at all. You can buy it anywhere you by shampoo. If it doesn't work for you, try Biosilk. It's this clear gel stuff that's really thick. It's supposed to add moisture to your hair and make it not frizzy. Hope this helps!"

"I have layered, wavy, shoulder length hair too, and I do know some cute styles that you could do that would work for your hair when it gets frizzy:
Style 1: Two half ponytails on either side of your head. Part your hair on the side. Divide hair into two sections (only using half of your hair). Put it up with two hairbands and comb through. I like this style because its cute and it keeps hair away from your face. The downside is that it doesn't keep hair off your neck.
Style 2: A fun and quirky bun. Put your hair up at the height you desire and take the hairband like you're doing a ponytail, but don't pull it all the way through. Twist your hair around and this time pull the hair all the way through your hairband. Pull little bits and pieces of hair out of the bun. This style keeps your hair out of your face and off your neck, and it's cuter than a ponytail.
Style 3: Low pigtails. Part hair any way you want. Divide hair into two sections and put a hairband around each section, keeping the pigtails low (close to your shoulders)."

"Try changing shampoo and conditioner brands. It might sound weird but it works!"

"Invest in a good straightener, like the CHI. Start using a thermal protector, like Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide. It protects your hair shaft from heat. Also, start using a product for straightening your hair. KMS Flat Out Relaxing Balm is amazing. If you're partial to sprays, use Healthy Sexy Hair Flat Iron Spray. Spray it in your hair, let it dry, straighten it, then comb it out."

"OK, I have the same problem with my hair -- it is always frizzy during the summer. Well, not any more. If you straighten your hair everyday for about a week, it will stay straight and not frizzy."

"1. Never brush your hair when it's wet, this will break the hair and you'll be stuck with split ends.
2. It's not good to shampoo your hair every single day. This rids your hair of it's natural oils, so try to wash your hair every other day if possible.
3. If you heat up virgin olive oil and rub it on the ends of your hair, this can cure split ends and help keep your hair healthy. it's also good to rub in your scalp because it stimulates growth and doesn't clog pores.
4. Try deep conditioning your hair at least once a week.
5. Air dry your hair as much as possible -- it really makes a huge difference."
