Virus - Help me!!

Postby Play_Bunny on Mon Oct 10, 2005 8:49 pm

Yesterday i downloaded Adobe Paintshop pro from ares the downloading programme. As i opened it, it asked for a code to sign up. Presumably this would have been in the cd cover when bought legally. I searched the internet for such a code.
I came across a site that offered it i just had to download it. It did look a bit dodgy but i downloaded it anyway as i needed paintshop for urgent college work. I know that was wrong but i did. So it finished downloading and viruses of all kinds attacked. The antivirus software found 292 harmful files when sweeped. most of which were trojans and worms. I was told of someone who had the same problem and thier compueter died a few days later without warning.
Without knowing the specific names of my viruses, can anyone tell me if my computer will die a permanent death?
Help much appreciated i don't really want to lose all my work, there's too much to back up
Thanks in advance

My powers are weak but,

No permanent harm.
A clean sweep with a virus checker/Trojan hunter will purge the system.

Though, a lot of the files they destroy will render a load of programs useless...
So you’ll have to reinstall a few of them.

If you have windows98 it may be easier to reinstall everything.
I would after writing down all my passwords and serial codes etc (or use my backup)

Trouble with notebooks is that they use really weird drivers that only the factory seems to have...

Next time, use firefox and just visit the honest pirate sites that just print the passwords on the webpage.

Hum,

i sense you have Tauscan.

I hope you didn’t activate the `deep analysis` mode...

remember, it will find a lot of false positives...

It lies.

Play bunny please click on the link and do the free virus scan just to make sure. http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym

Also there is a good bet that spyware and stuff came along with it.

Here's a link to a program that is the best in spyware removal but it is a free trial and it only works for 14 days but it is the best http://www.webroot.com/consumer/?WRSID=b1240777ceb8ad5951569d76d3c11811
Of course it doesn't hurt to F*** them for an hour or so and give them like three to eight orgasms now and again. That generally keeps girls loyal. - Averick

Hum,
Remember to visit the Micro$oft site to update your computer.
(or click on start  microshaft update)

There are a few nasty worms going to be released soon, and there are a few patched available now to protect your system…
