Tampons (again - sorry!)

Postby IcedCactus on Thu Jul 29, 2004 4:09 pm

Hi there.. this is a slightly embarrassing question, but is it at all possible that I'm mistaking my urethra for vagina?? I've tried to use tampons but even after following the guide and using a mirror I can't seem to find where to put them where it feels right. When I'm in the bath I can find what I assume is my vagina with a finger and it doesn't hurt, should I go by feel and try to find it when using tampons?? Sorry for graphic post, just very curious about this and would like to get on with using tampons (I'm nearly 20)!

i dont think so, mainly cos ive had a catheter fitted before and although i was in alot of pain before they fitted it, it still really hurt. if u were trying to get your fingers up there im pretty sure itd hurt. bear in mind that im not a doctor though.

Try using a mirror to explore how you look down there...there really is only one place it can go!!! I only started using tampons recently (about 4/5 periods so far) and they are so much better once you get the hang of them, far more comfortable. Remember to aim towards your lower back, and i find that standing and squatting slightly with my knees facing forwrads is a good posistion. and perhaps a bit of lube on the applicator will help and i know it's hard but relax!
