Hi! Is Flashget free? I know DAP has a free (ad-supported) version. I personally use Free Download Manager (FDM) for larger files. (Yes, it's actually free!) It's good, it does it's job well and has a good interface! Also, if you use the Firefox browser, maybe you'd be interested in Flashgot, which integrates your download manager with Firefox!
Hope that helps! :)

I'm partial to GetRight by Headlight Software.

I use the free demo of star downloader version 1.44

http://www.stardownloader.com/

I`ve tested it for over a year now and its fast and stable compared with other downloaders...

(used with xp pro sp2)

I've used Internet Download Manager from download.com, as well as others, but on a dialup connection it was just not worth it, it hung other apps, etc. On DSL it's so much better.

I use Getright, I went off it for a while because it wasn't Mozilla compatible but I went back to it when suitable extensions came out.

Stardownloader V1.44 is pretty good.

It integrates into firefox too.

I use Neo Downloader light for photos. I just copy the link into the program and it copies all the photos from the page into a folder on my hard drive.
I've never come across another program like it. I got it free of a magazine cover Cd, but you can also get it from here:
http://www.neowise.com/neodownloader/

I use Fresh Download for videos, programs, or any other large files.
Registration is required, but it is free. The registration code also works for a bunch of other cool free programs. I use a free mail.com account for registrations. (Some sites don't like Hotmail)
Get it here: http://freshdevices.com/

Sweet!

I use instantget and wellget, as well as IDM. Opera comes with a built-in download manager but it's not as fast a the others. ;D
