I am expecting my first baby in Jan, and would love some advice on what shoes I should be wearing.

I normally wear heels in theoffcie, but have been advised not to while prgnant, - also they are starting to feel tight on my feet.

Are there fashionable shoes to wear in pregnancy, or should I just settle on going barefoot around the office?

Thanks for the advice. To be honest I would rather just not bother with shoes at all, and just go barefoot, -it is one less thing to bother with and is comfy. Boss does,nt mind, and the office is carpeted.

What about slippers while in the office?

Heels is not a good idea when you are pregnant at all. I always wear trainers. They are flat and comfy. In the last 10 weeks of my 2nd pregnancy I had swollen ankles and feet and could only wear flip flops. This time I think I am going to have to do the same, except it will be cold and wet by the time October comes Sad

Thanks Lesley,

What are you going to wear in October when the wather is bad, - surely you can't wear slippers of flip flops then.

But I like the idea of wearing slipers rather than heels, nuch more comfy and easy to slip on and off.

Do you think I could get away with wearing slippers outdoors as well, - my shoes are getting really un-comfortable and difficult to wear.

Please help.

How about some kung-fu/taichi slippers? Do a search for 'kung-fu shoes' and you should be able to find a picture of the ones I'm talking about and buy them _. They're black and made out of fabric so they are more flexible than a pair of trainers. They may look more professional for work than trainers too... not to mention looking completely cool and awesome. Wink

They are quite cheap so you could buy a few pairs for your feet as they swell. Some of them have more durable soles than others, so maybe you could have a pair of rubber-soled ones to get to work and a pair of soft-soled ones for the carpet inside.

Hope this helps.

By the way I would definitely recommend not going barefoot in the office. It's not fair on your co-workers and looks really unprofessional.

Ok, inside the office I would recommend slippers, no-one will mind as you can get away with alsorts when pregant! Outside I would suggest a well gripping pair of walking boots (one size bigger) not exactly flattering I know but if you've ever tried walking on ice when pregnant you'll know what I mean. Remember last winter when it had snowed or was icey. Imagine trying to balance like that heavily pregnant. It's very scary, you are terrified of falling and hurting the baby. I think heel's should go out the window for the remainder of your pregnancy. Hope this helps

Also, going barefoot will make your feet dirty, when you are big washing anything below the bump is a nightmare!!

I have a pair of slippers that you can't even tell are slippers unless you look real close.

I have no idea what I'm going to do when I get further on in my pregnancy. I think I might buy a cheap pair of trainers one size too big, it might work - if not wear slippers and hope it doesn't rain lol.

Hi,

I recently found out that I am pregnant, for the first time. Although, I am not "showing" yet, I was advised that for a good posture as well as comfort it is best to avoid heels and go barefoot as much as possible.

As a reult I have alredy stopped wearing shoes, and just go in slippers, wven to thge office. In the office I leave my slippers off and go wither barefoot or in stockings feet. If it heps my posture and pregnancy, this does'nt bother me. Plus, it is comfy!! Guess it will feel weird when I eventually have to start wearing shoes again!!

I am prednant and go barefoot everywhere, -it is just easier than bothering with shoes. The soles of my feet get dirty, but as a single preganat girl dirty soles are the least of my worries.
