I know what you both mean.

I have to walk along a muddy path on my way to work, and slip a lot when it is wet.

Also, my shoes often get very muddy, does this happen to either of you and if so how do you manage. With me sometimes it is too much to clean easily when I am all dressed up in work.

I have a similar path to work. I always wear man made shoes as they clean up so much easier than leather. The soles are a bit slippery though.

I can sympathise with how some paths get when it rains. Most of my journey is by car with a short walk into the store from a car park. A part of the path between car park and store isn’t very well levelled and water collects there and so it gets mucky in very heavy rain. That can be slippery and the only other alternative is the grass which would be just as bad.

It’s only that bit though so It can be how some paths are laid sometimes I think. And where the water runs is where it can sometime make paths slippery. Best advice I can offer really is to be careful and walk slow. Better to get to work late but fine that slip over with all the embarrassment.

Has anyone ever been to a dressy function,such as a outdoor wedding,or
black tie party,and the grounds have been messy from rain,and had to
deal with trying keep high heeled dress sandels on your feet,and trying
not to get too muddy ?

Yeah I've been in that situation a few times! Last time was last year when I went to a wedding in black 5" strappy stiletto sandals. The church was fine but it rained the day before so the grass outside the church was quite wet so it was hard to stop my slender heels sinking in! My sandals had very very smooth and shiny soles too so I found I was slipping and slithering all over the place on the grass too which was quite funny! I wasn't the only girl doing that either!

Fortunately, they didn't get too muddy as I did try to be careful but I did wipe them down when we got the wedding reception!

Have you ever been in that situation, if so what shoes did you wear?

Yes I have.
Earlier this past spring I attended a wedding that was held completly
outdoors,ceramony and reception.They were prepaired for bad weather,as
there was a large tent,but there was no floor,just the grass.The only
oasis from the grass was the 50'X50' dance floor,but there were far too
many people for all to fit on it.Anyway,it had rained all the night before
and part of the morning of the wedding.During the wedding it self,the
day was beautifull,sunshine and birds singing,but the grass was still soaked from the rain.Being it was spring the,the temp.was a tad bit chilly,
so most all the woman(including my self)had stockings or pantyhose on.
Needless to say there were alot of upset girls with mud stained leg and foot wear.I had on a pair of white silk stockings and silver satin 5.5"
high spike heeled sandels that laced up my calf,I couldn't even easily slip
them off to wipe them.
And you won't beleive the worst part,where some of the guests had to park was all grass as well-muddy grass.I got my Mustang stuck in the
muddy grass.I slipped and trudged my way to my car and thought to my self "finally I'm done with the mud" I backed out of the parking spot and
right into a gooey patch of grass.I tried to go forward,and just spun in place,so I tried to go backward and I just spun in place,and dug my tires right down past the rims.I was soo stuck.So I got out only get my shoes and stockings even muddier than they already were.I went to the wedding stag,so there was no one there to help me.So I walked back to the reception to recrut some help.
I found after that almost every one who parked in that lot got stuck in almost the exact spot I did.

I’ve experienced similar situations at weddings I’ve been to. Once I wore black stiletto sandals to a wedding, about 4.5” high and the reception was held outside on the grass. It rained really heavily overnight before the wedding so when I found out that the reception started outside I knew I was going have to try and keep my heels from getting muddy.

Almost as soon as I stepped onto it my stiletto heels started to sink into the grass, so I tried to keep my heels out of the grass I had brand new really sheer black stockings on that made my feet really slippery inside my shoes so balancing on the slick grass was not easy.

My sandals also have teeny thin leather soles with no grips on them so whenever I tried to walk anywhere my feet are slithering and skidding. My sandals got a bit muddy, especially the heels and coz of the wet ground I got wet feet and stockings but at least I didn’t slip over and get my dress all muddy.

Wow, that is some experience!! Your stockings and shoes sound really pretty and it is such a shame that they got muddy. 5.5" heels are so sexy to wear aren't they? It's my fave heel height and I have loads of shoes like that.

I remember my friend's car getting stuck once and I had to try to push her out in my slidey-soled 5" pointy court shoes, as you can imagine, I didn't really get very far coz everytime I put my weight onto the back of the car, I just simply slid backwards. My pretty little shoes having no grip whatsoever! We ended up calling her breakdown service and they towed us out with no trouble! Luckily, I had black patent shoes on so they did wipe clean pretty quickly and a quick polish of the soles later and they were as good as new!!

Ballet pumps can be really slippery on grass!!!

Interesting article Louise, I guess I can understand why as kids will be running round a lot at school and running in slippery shoes is a bad idea. You don’t stop you slide LOL.

Most of my shoes do have smooth soles too so I know what it’s like sometimes, I find when I’m shopping most of the high heels have smooth soles now, especially the pointed toe ones.
