I have naturally medium ash brown hair. I dyed it about five months ago with Garnier color 535, which is classified as medium golden mahogany brown. I'm aiming for a medium/darkish ash blonde, and I'm looking to be done with it in one treatment, two at most. I have a box of the 535 in case I mess up horribly, and I have a box of Garnier color 81, which is medium ash blonde. I'm nearly positive that if I just used the 81 by itself, I'd be coppery orange. I plan to go to Sally's soon and get the L'oreal Hicolor Blondes kit. Would you recommend this? I've heard only positive things about it so far, and it is intended for darker hair. The only real problem is that I can't find any color swatches showing what each shade is supposed to look like -- what the heck is Sandstone Blonde? Dark, light? How am I supposed to guess that? Anyway, I suppose I can ask the ladies at Sally's for advice (and how to use the dang stuff; my friend said I need to ask them about a lifter or something), but I thought I'd ask here in advance because it is a bit of a drive for me. Thanks in advance.

Yeah you should dye it another color first else it won't go Blonde
omg NO the more colour the harder it will be to get your hair blonde i work for francessco's and the more tint you put on the harder it will be yes red is hard to get out but not as hard as getting double the amount of colour out!
I have naturally chocolate brown hair. I dyed it black in november, then again in march to cover the roots. When I made the decision to dye it black, I couldnt decide between black or blonde. Now after having it black, I really want it white blonde. My hair is about waist height.
Is this possible? Im prepaed to go to the hairdressers and have it done even though I normally always do my own hair. Im also prepared to have orange hair for a while if its eventually possible to have white blonde?

Hello Everyone. Maybe someone can give me some input or advice on my "hair disaster". A few weeks ago I went to the salon and asked for some medium blonde highlights. I asked for a tone that is not brassy, goldy or orangey. I asked for as natural looking as possible, something neutral or cool. My natural hair color is medium brown & has only been lowlighted dark ash brown in a few spots at least 9 months ago (which I told her). I mentioned that my hair seems to have a lot of red/gold pigment in it that I wanted to get rid of. I said I would eventually like to get more blonde & lighter blonde highlights for summmer. Well, I came out with a few auburn highlights. I went back & asked her to fix it. This time I came out with lighter auburn, orange, and gold hair on top and green-blonde highlights underneath. I wanted to cry. I decided to get it fixed somewhere else . With the new stylist I asked for the same thing & explained what had happened a week earlier. I walked out with dark reddish brown lowlights, yellow-orange highlights & the rest of my hair light auburn. She said my hair was pulling a lot of gold. My hair didn't even resemble the colors I picked. I have another appointment with this stylist and I don't even know what to tell her. Why can't I just get a nice shade of blonde? I feel like I'm asking for the impossible. all I want is blonde highlights that aren't orange or bright brassy gold! I've already spent a ridiculous amount of money and don't know what to do. Am I being unclear in my request? Are there any professional stylists out there that can help me with this? Is there any way to get the orange & gold tones out of hair? Next appt. in two days... please! any help would be appreciated!!! Thank you.

hi i need help ive dyed my hair heaps . i have so much breakage plus i have dyed my hair dark brown but it turned out a blacky brown but i dont like so i want to try blonde so if i bleach it will all my hair fall out and what do i do before i bleach and after like caring for it please help im only a teen and i dont want to go bald and lose all my hair !!!!!!
You know what you should've done first? Since your hair was dark brown you shouldn't do blonde like that. You have to gradually get it lighter ya know what i mean? Dark brown, brown, light brown, dark blonde, medium blonde and then the blondest one you want you wanna do. That being said, if you did that your hair wouldn't be so brittle and it wouldn't snap. I know this because I've experienced that before. You can also just go to the professionals but are you willing to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on hair?

My Hair was always blonde for as long as I can remeber. It was always done at a salon and wasnt very long. I then decided to stop bleeching my hair to allow it to grow. I covered by hair with a semi permanent colour ( diacolour) from sallys. my hair is noe extremely dark and i hate it!! If I bleech my hair, which is the only way it will lift as, tint doesnt lift tint, it will snap as the bleech underneath will be covered. has anyone any idead how I can get long blonde glossy hair

If you have real dark brown hair like me ant want to go blonde its not as hard a people think!!!
If you want to do it the cheap way by going it yourself then listen up!!
- buy a bleach porixide from your local chemist (e.g B blonde)
- if your not sure what your hair will turn out like then do a stran test. by mixing up the colour and snipping a tiny part of your hair and applying the bleach to it. leave it for 45 minites and check results. leave longer if still dark. once the stran is lifted to a blondy brassy colour then wash the stran. to make sure that your har wont break try and pull the hair apart and you will see if it snaps. to get rid of the brassy yellow effect buy a normal blonde hair dye and apply after this will treat your hair aswell. If your hair is still brassy and yellow then apply a 99p toner from the chemist. This should be an ash blonde as it has violet in it and will knock out any brassy effects. PLEASE NOTE TRY NOT TO GET THE BLEACH ON YOUR SKIN AS IT WILL BURN A LITTLE!!!!
you dont have to dye it red first you can just go ahead and bleach it but go to sallys and use there bleach kit that is white not blonde i have dark brown hair and i did that and it worked good but after that just use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner you might have to use the bleach twice cause you dyed it dark but wait at least 1 to 2 weeks ask the lady at sallys they let you know everything.
my hair has been so many colors and ive done all i could to get it to one normal color and now i want to go blonde right now my hair is dark brown and light brown but i want it blonde if i go to a salon and have them do foils should it go to blonde? please help
Hi all! I was just fumbling about on the net looking for advice on dyeing my hair and I found this forum so hopefully someone can give me some advice! I have dyed my hair so many colours and for the last few months have had it black. The roots have grown through and they are a mid- brown. I really want my hair as light as I can possibly get it but am worried that going from black to blonde will break my hair or it'll just go orange! Any advice?? Thanks.
