my cum smells like bleach as well, and I have been trying to have children and have yet to succeed. I'm not a smoker, but I do eat alot of meat. what can be causing this? I think I may be sterile because of the bleach smell and not being able to have children thus far. any recommendations?
Mine smells like bleach and I have 2 daughters, so I'm pretty sure the smell doesn't mean you are infertile. In fact judging by the comments by people who have had vasectomies, I'd even say that the smell may even mean you ARE fertile.
I heard it usually smells like the beach after the rain and tastes like stale, rotten claims that have been marinating in urine. Now I have never been at the beach, nor ever eaten claims, rotten or otherwise, however as someone who as tasted cum, I have to say that to me it smells to me like the bubble gum under a subway car seat, which I have smelled actually, and tastes like spoiled milk, which I have drank by accident.

The bleach smell could be a break down of citric acid and elevation of keytone bodies, which often takes the smell of acetone in the breath and a bleach smell in the semen. If your urin is dark and has a strong urea odor, I hate to tell you but you might have Type II diabetes.
It's actually not that unusual for semen to have a slightly chlorine-y smell. It is quite alkaline, after all, to neutralize the acidic nature of vaginal fluid (otherwise the sperm would die).
And seminal fluid IS very sensitive to aromatic chemicals in the diet. Curry, garlic, asparagus (for some people anyway), red meat, various fruits can all affect the smell and taste of semen.

This TRUE!! I started to notice a smell in my cum and my urine. Also my urine is very dark at times. Guess what?? Hyperglycemia. So yes this could be an indication diabetes. The smell comes from keytones. It wouldnt hurt to get your sugar levels tested.

The Kinsey Institute (reprinted in Details magazine) describes the chemical make-up of semen: "The chemicals vary somewhat, depending on the man's diet, health, and frequency of ejaculation, but the average ejaculate consists mostly of protein, citric acid, fructose (a complex sugar), sodium, and chloride. There are smaller amounts of ammonia, ascorbic acid, acid phosphatase, calcium, carbon dioxide, cholesterol, prostaglandins, creatine, other minerals, and numerous other chemicals."
That seems to cover the salty, acidic and Clorox descriptions
