Who among them isn’t a politician, zia? On that aspect, Wright was right on. Are McCain or Hillary not a politician? Wright was distancing himself not only from Obama, but from all of them. That’s what I said…Wright has his own agenda, and it doesn’t include the interests of Obama. He is only hurting Obama.

You keep suckering me into this debate that has me supporting Obama. He is not my candidate. But I wonder…if you can box me into this role so easily, maybe I'm missing something about my own sympathies. Nah, Nader forever! Laughing

Was funny when Wright said how he was in the marines for 6 years then joked about chaney never serving............... Laughing

Still think what he said about damming America was stupid especially when soldiers are fighting & dying for America.

Also still say the Democrats should raise hell about that religious entertainer Hagee supporting McCain and someone /anyone wud howl about the traitors like wolfowitz & perle who came up with the idea for attacking Iraq not to defend America but to help israel

What is Wright's agenda? I listen to him and I'm wondering what Martin Luther King would think about this man. He is not a unifier in any form.

Zia, if we disagree, it is one of the most interesting disagreement in history. The dialectic between the peace value and the conflict (or justice) value has become the major debate in the early 21st-ctintury. The peace value arose at the end of WWII, with the advent of the United Nations in San Francisco. Take a look at Article 2 and Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. It says, peace at all costs. That was the prevailing norm until GWB and the present neocons made the argument, at the UN, incidentally, that preemptive strikes were justified. That is the conflict value.

Now I don’t want to abstract Martin Luther King to geopolitical proportions, but he was saying the same thing. Civil disobedience was a kind of conflict value, cloaked in non-violence so that it didn’t look aggressive. But aggressive it was. I would agree that Wright does not even begin to reach the proportions of MLK, but we don’t do Dr. King justice by misunderstanding what he was doing. Change comes from conflict. That is why it is still around.

Oh, and if this looks like I support the neocons, let me state that things have to have a purpose. Have you noticed my use of the word "purposelessness”—as in this war has no “purpose?" A preemptive strike has to have a clear purpose with a definitive tactical scheme and an explicit end game. Think Nelson at Trafalgar; think Napoleon in Poland; think Israel in 1967. Now take a look at Iraq. Now do you see what a mess these idiots have made? Clearly, amateurs. And McCain, who buys in…don’t get me started.

Having wright and King in the same discussion is a leading indicator of wright setting race relations back 40 years to the 60s.

wright didn't just become the guy who spoke at the national press club overnight; he's held these beliefs for decades. O'Bumma found these beliefs so objectionable that he stuck around listening to them for 20 years.... Rolling Eyes

Obama committed political suicide with that denigrating comment about small-town whites who favor religion and guns.

Obama's close friendship with unrepentant Weather Underground terrorists will hurt him badly as well.

Compared to the above, Rev. Wright is the least of Obama's problems.

The combination of a lot of things are all parts of the mosaic that reveal O'Bumma to be a radical or at the very least a radical sympathizer: reverend wright, contempt for working people who cling to religion, unrepentent terrorist william ayers, michelle o'bumma the beneficiary of affirmative action and recipient of a good life believing America is a mean country.

Now suddenly O'Bumma tries to pretend wright is suddenly a different man because of what happened Monday. wright has been that way and has espoused hatred for America, whites, etc. for a long, long time. And during that time, O'Bumma was attached to him at the hip. Nothing changed except that more people heard it.
