My five-year-old boy would appear to be very intelligent and quite intense. He's asked lots of questions about dieing over the last year or so, and I've given him fairly straight answers (I've dressed it up a bit obviously).
It doesn't seem to have caused him any harm, but he sometimes asks me when I'm going to die. I have to reassure him that I'll be around for a long time yet (must find some wood to touch!).
Do you think I was right to give him the facts at his age - or should I have invented something? What have you said to your kids? |

| Our two boys asked at about that age. We had a rule about not lying to them so we told them that dying is like going to sleep, except that you don't wake up. Doesn't often happen to children. But that's not so bad even if it does happen, because if you never wake up, you'll never know you haven't woken up... |
