I wonders what the H they expects to gain by messing up peoples computers..? Maybe they are insane..?

This is their website... For myself, I'm gonna blacklist them permanent...

I'll surf their links, and blacklist all those too:

Why do you suppose Spybot lists them in their bad things lists..?

CAUTION!..

Note: "manual rootkit removal process is difficult and you run the risk of destroying your computer's OS."

If you want to play here, it's your call... If it destroys your PC's operating system.. You did it... But at least you had some fun doing it...

Me thinks if you've installed anything from that site, you'll need to format-C, and pull the battery for a half hour before reloading the OS...
I've got it solved.. I simply pull the HD, and replace it with a clean one...

This technique seems to be the only way that works to create a bootable CD image of your W98se operating system, to make reinstalling your hard drive quick...

If you run a firewall, and are totally fed-up with constant pop-up warnings, but want valid pop-up warnings to appear.. all you need do is add "Tiny Personal Firewall" from "Older versions", and set it to block: loopback, netb, ping, microsoft, system, setup, and updater...

Generally the big firewalls don't detect TPF working in the background...
It's said that you shouldn't run two firewalls, but TPF is so tiny that it fits on a floppy, and it mostly only blocks outgoing Net connections that you have blocked.. plus it watches for major changes in softwares, but not enough to really be classed as a firewall.. more like a "splashguard"...

SeaMonkey 1.1.8 is out... I'm running it on W98se... It seems to be stable with W98se.. and it is full of new features... Check-out the addons...

_____________

Oh Joy!.. This new SeaMonkey's "No-Script Addon" blocks out freebie email account irritating pop-ups, like the ones that ask if you are sure you want to do what you just did... What a relief!.. like a painful pimple that finally popped...

I don't think it's a dream.. now it seems everything is going that little bit faster..?

If anyone is experiencing troubles with their cable-internet connection falling off, and reboot is the only way to re-establish the connection.. Try this: Go to Start>Run>type-in: "winipcfg">Enter>OK>change PP to Ethernet>Renew>OK...
Seems the providers are updating their systems too much too fast too new.. which is progressively meticulously obsoleting old operating systems... I'm bets that very soon W98se PC's won't be able to connect to the Net... Best you all start saving for a real computer, before the shids hit your fans...

Update on this little glitch that was causing my cable Internet cinnection to be unstable... I ran Spybot S&D.. It found a registry key change:

Microsoft.Windows.ActiveDesktop: [SBI $377029D9] User settings (Registry change)
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\ActiveDesktop\NoHTMLWallPaper

That fixed it in one hd, but not in the other, bigger hd.. so I ran Find for "PPP", and deleted its drivers.. and it hasn't happened since.. but now Run>"winipcfg" can't read the IP... Maybe that's a good thing..? maybe it's not..? It was a h of a lot better than having to format C...

This thread is for the kiddies who are just starting out... If you think you can do it better, then by all means start your own precious computer advice thread...

Please just go away... This is a basics reference thread for serious novice people, who can't figure it out themselves... This is about Windows 98.. for us poor folk who can't afford new PC's... Please stop pissing in our sandbox!.. Kindly delete your peepee posts...

but i do think you're dreaming - you suggest that downloading seamonkey has made everything run faster on your computer - ok, seamonkey itself is faster than most other comparable applications, but i can't think of any way it could make everything on your pc run faster.....

I just got this email from a supposed download center, suggesting that my PC's firewall is out of date, "Please update your firewall" it read in the subject line... I get this same email every two weeks... Now how would they know the condition of my firewall, given that this PC doesn't have a firewall..? So I Google-searched, "Firewall Gold Message Center, Virus Scam", and found this mess:

http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=Firewall+Gold+Message+Center+virus+scam&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

I suspect this particular scam is American Intel data collecting, as are several download sites... Load their softwares, and you've installed their permanent trojans... You know you've got into a bad website when it locks you out of your mouse and keyboard while it downloads the contents of your private files, in the same amount of time it would take for you to copy those files to your computer from a CD...
Make a CD copy of all your pix and notes files.. then time how long it takes to load that CD to the desktop... Next time a government hacker gets into your computer, and momentarily locks out your buttons, time its activity, and compare it to how long it took to download that CD to the desktop... The moment my PC locks out my controls, while visiting a website, I pull the PC's power cord, or its internet connection cable, which ever is quicker, if the little disconnect icon at the lower right of the SeaMonkey screen didn't work... Then I uninstall SeaMonkey, and reinstall it.. then run "EasyCleaner's Start Cleaner", to see of there's a new bug there waiting to install itself during the next reboot...

Every strange email you get, before opening it search their title with the words "virus scam" attached to it...

better still, if you receive an unsolicited e-mail from someone you've never heard of and there are links or attachments that they tell you to click on, just delete the message there and then.
