when i was 10 i came to blows with someone at school who proclaimed santa claus wasn't real.

i think it's best to tell tell kids sooner rather than later.
especially before they reach secondary school

am glad i realised the truth before then ..i would have have got taunted quite badly from the other kids

Hi all
What age do u think is right for a child to be told Santa isnt real?????
My ex to my utter disgust told my daughter last year (when she was only 6yrs old) that he wasnt real, because her current partner isnt much into xmas.......or come to think of it anything exciting!!!!
It took me and a friend many months to convince her that he was real and was looking forward to surprising her with lots of things from 'Santa' only to find out my ex has once again told her he isnt real on the run up to Christmas.
So..........when is the right time?
I think before they start secondary school is fine...maybe a bit younger if they are bright/mature for there age.
But 6 yrs old!!!!!!!
Any replys much appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
Chris.

Thats a hard one,am a mum of 3 girls,My oldest is 13,and she made her own made up,so does not believe in him,my 9 still believe's in santa, and every year writes santa a letter and leaves him a christmas card under the tree, and is always over the moon the next morning when there is a card back from santa under the tree, but she was abit upset, when she got her christmas party at school, and no santa turn up,she is in p4,and when she ask her teacher, why no santa came she was told she was to old for santa, she had no right to do that,my 3rd child will she is just a baby, she has just turn 5 months old,so dont now who santa is

I sat down and told my daughter this year at 10, kind of glossed it up and said he lives in Lapland still but is too old to do all the magic now, we put him on Norad on the laptop Christmas eve so they could track him and his journery (for the others) she was really good and joined in with them, but next day whispered to me, mum ive known for ages, but I know you love Christmas and didnt want to burts your bubble, I was gutted Laughing

I did the same for my 6 year old! Kept him quiet!!!

This isn't really an issue for us yet as my daughter is has only just turned 3 so we're just getting into the whole Father Christmas thing. However, I definitely wouldn't spoil it for them until they're at Senior School although I seem to remember realising myself aged around 9.
