Long hair

Postby sarah1958 on Sun Dec 16, 2007 5:25 pm

Ive always had long hair and its around mid back length at the moment, Im thinking of having it cut very short. Has any of you girls ever had long hair cut short and regreted it?

I think I know what you mean by very short. Can’t say I’ve had my hair cut really short recently or anything but when I used to be at school I had very long hair like yours.

It was a bit of a pain sometimes so I was gunner have it cut short but what I did was go halfway first and I had it cut to about shoulder length. Then everyone said it looked nice on me and I kept it.

If you do that if you don’t like it being shorter it won’t take as long to grow back. And you might prefer it like that and decide to keep it. Well that’s my advice.

Hi Sarah.

When I was at school my Mum would never let me grow my hair long, but as I got older and on leaving & becoming a more independant twentysomethings I've let my hair grow now down to past waste length it's taken quite a few years to get to this length, but the hassle's & joys have been worth it and I could never ever contemplate a major chopping session(7 or 8 years growth wrecked in few minutes with a pair of scissors)the thought of it makes me shudder.
My view is don't do it, :hand: with long hair one can do so much with it(updos, down loose, braids, ponytails etc:)with a very short cut what can you do with it if you don't like the end result?..Not a lot, you are stuck with it, plus some very short styles don't look particularly  feminine Another 5-8 years growing again, seems a hell of a time to wait :sleepy: just for the sake of letting a murderous pair of scissors attack your hair.I know of several who have had the big chop an regretted afterwards they have even tried to get me to do the same butr NO WAY. There is something quite glorious about a head of beautiful long hair,

Let us know how you get on with the growing, but pleeeease not the cutting.

Have a look at these websites which might be interesting.

Thanks for your views girls, The main reason i thought of getting the chop was for convienence more than anything, I was thinking if i go short i dont have to style it much in the mornings. I do like to wear my hair up or in a pony..Think you right niki..going to keep it lomg as i dont want to have it cut and regret it...

hi there...

I have also a long hair and the length is almost in waist... I'm planning to cut it already but I'm thinking twice... I want to make a different hair style first before I cut it in short length. or cut it inch by inch... because they say when it make hurts to your hair when you cut it from long to short...

Hi Chai.

Pleeeease,Pleeeease don't cut your lovely long hair   As I said earlier in this thread there is so much you can do when hair is your length :D I have a friend who has waist length hair and she is a school teacher who lives & works locally she has her hair well tied up when at school, but when not she generally has is down/loose/hair decoration/clips etc, so very few of her school children she may see locally out of school recognise her(No 'Oooooh look there's Miss So & So' :) )and she gets left alone :) .A complete identity change. Now with very short hair (which does'nt look always very feminine) you are stuck with that style and if you don't like it,you are STUCK with it  . you can hardly glue back the sad remains of your glorious long hair that is now lylng on the hairdresser's(or should it be Hair murderer's floor) when hair is long you can do so much with it :D ,if you don't like one arrangement of your hair, you can try something else with out the prospect of a major chopping session   and it's implecations of another 5-8 years growing back that's a hell of a time to wait for it to grow back, the varities can be infinate with your sort of length. So you will probably gather my thoughts on gettting it cut .In a word Pleeeeeeeease don't most people regret afterwards and later look at photos of when they had lovely long hair with some regret.

Have a look at the websites I recommeded to Sarah, I think there is some useful info on arrangements for long hair. There is no recommadations for major chopping sessions.

Anyway let us know how you get on with the 'growing'

That's all for now I think!!

 for the time being.

Happy Christmas

I normally have long hair but have recently had it cut to shoulder length. I find it a lot more manageable & find it suits me pretty well. It depends on the person though. Some women definitely look better with long hair.

I think i prefer long hair, about a year ago i had it cut off. But my man says he loved my long hair that it made me look gorgous etc and loves keeping it pulled back when we're in the doggy position :P

Growing it back lately.

Go For The chop!

Postby pinky_blonde on Tue Jan 22, 2008 1:05 pm

Hiya, I had very long curly blonde hair (Think SJP early days) and last week I had it all chopped off into a crop which really I have to wear straight or it looks like marilyn/meg ryan. This friday am off to have the back graded like Sarah Hardings, everyone has said it makes me look loads younger and am loving it! Just waiting to get asked for ID next time I go out! x
I'd say go for it as you'll always wonder what it looks like, and its only hair, it will grow back X
