An email account in your computer is more virus susceptible than a freeby email account... Some of the freebie email account providers are just starting to add to infected emails sent to you, a warning in the header, "Virus detected in this email; read no further and delete this email"... It doesn't get any better than that... We can only Wish that the bully virus senders and conjob-scammers all suddenly suffer fatal-heart attacks throughout tonight...

User Beware!... Users should take a little more caution when . these days... A lot of the bully hacker-sites are now using gentle interesting key state of the art scientific words, to lure surfers into their nasty PC-killer hack-sites... I just received an email, on about one of my favorite intellectual topics from a warez crack-site... Click on that, and the PC's operating system is as good as burnt toast, faster than I can say the first half of "oops"......

Cable Internet connection failing sometimes..? I really really hates this ugly glitch!..

This is probably a common glitch that can wreck your whole day... You switch the computer on, early in the morn, and AaaRGuh! it won't connect... Thht!...

Here's one silly little common reason that this happens... You know that little hole the cable-guy drilled through your wall to push the cable into your house... And how it's letting a little cold-air into the house... Well it's Winter now.. and that cold-air seriously cools-down the connectors to the splitter.. which house-moisture now condenses on, and in.. corroding the connectors inside and out fairly fast, losing you your Internet connection, while still passing reasonable TV cable signals...
Check it out... Plug the hole with good caulking, and clean or change the connectors if there is even slight corrosion.. and the problem should vanish...

Another thing in this... If you use regular old style TV cable for Internet, you'll find that its core wire is a lot thinner than the newer Internet cable hookup wire's cores... Cold and hot can sometimes cause you to lose Internet signal running through a TV cable's too thin core wire to connectors... Undo the connectors, and slightly bend the connector's core wires to force them to make good solid springy contact inside the female ends of splitter connections...

If you get the cable-service to do the clean-up, they'll probably bill you about fifty-bucks for it... Know the facts before you ask the industry to fix it... Better to fix it yourself... Simply follow the wires, and check every connection...

Another weird glitch that can wreck your connection, is if the PC's Ethernet card isn't tightly screwed in where the screw should be... Pull the tower along the floor a little, or tug at a few wires, and you can accidentally pull the card out of its connectors, which could even destroy your PC, if the card momentarily shorts-out hot motherboard components to ground.. then all you hear is a few tiny crackles, and suddenly the computer is dead and gone, faster than you can say "oops"...

Things to do:

Back-up your files and treasures to CD or floppies...

Run a ScanDisk Thorough... and Defrag...

Tidy-up all around the PC...

Clean the monitor screen... Not "windex"!.. It has ammonia in it, which makes plastic eye-glass lenses, and monitor fronts, go cloudy...

Checkout: http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/catalog/

Have a happy relaxed Xmas...

There are slippery walking conditions out there when water freezes on the ground... It's winter... Take each step in your mind, before you take it for real... Live Safe...

Take your vitamins... Take care of yourself...

Find a place where you can laugh...

Don't drive when you're all boozed-up, or doped-up... Lock-up the car, in a well lit safe place, with no valuables showing.. and call a cab or a friend... You'll be glad you did... Riding in a cab is more fun that getting stopped my grumpy cops.. and you won't need to wait till they open the cage for you to go get your car from the pub's parking lot...

Switch-Off the PC for a while, and go outside for some fresh-air and a long-walk with a good friend...

Give the car a tune-up...

Walk around the house, to see if there is anything crucial that need be fixed...

Look in the mirror to see if there's anything that need be fixed...

Make someone laugh today...

This link seems to be the very latest updates for W98se.. connected to the dudes who bring us all the new W98se stuff... The author seems to be very proud and excited about his latest W98se project.. I don't blame him.. it's a huge project, that takes a lot of dedication and smarts, and lucky for us his hundreds of hours of hard work is free for the taking...
I wonder how folks like that make any money on their labors..? Or maybe it's not a money-thing.. Maybe it's just taking pride in a job well done..?

Important to make a fresh registry backup BEFORE installing Anything new, by going to: Start>Programs>Accessories>SystemTools>SystemInformation>Tools>RegistryChecker, and click to make a new backup.. then if you mess-up, you can restore the registry to what it was before you started the modifications.. by going to: Start>Shutdown>Restart in MS Dos>type in: "scanreg /restore", and pick an earlier backup>OK...

Power saving is getting to be a big concern...

Buy a remote switch, to cut power to your desk, at the click of a remote...

Click Off the power to your stereos, TV's, and everything that stays On when it's Off...

I bought a remote switch for the Xmas tree.. and when the tree went out, the switch went to the computer desk... Now I'm not paying the electricity for all those devices to sleep...

Re: The new SeaMonkey 1.1.7

I tested it in W98se for a couple days... It locked up four times while I was composing.. so I dumped it, and reinstalled 1.1.4... Seems 1.7 is too new for W98...

A PC-Trick to try with SeaMonkey:

You bring up your SeaMonkey-Composer, on half-screen, and set WinWall to set Pix to the other side of the screen...
Click-up SeaMonkey.. Click-up Compose.. Drop the Browser to the Start bar.. Now you can view the pix of choice while you create in compose, in having selected the appropriate pix for the intended compose mood, required for the project...

______________

A Trick to try on your desktop:

Rename each icon for what they actually do for you...

PhotoEditor becomes "Art"..
WinWall becomes "Pix"..
Irfanview becomes "View"..

Documents is "Notes"..
Other desktop files are: "NewNotes".. and "NewPhotos"..
My Computer becomes "PC"..
Network becomes "Tree"..
Floppy becomes "A"..
CD Player becomes "D"..

Make a new folder, "Tools"... load it with all the tools it takes to maintain the computer: DiskCleanUp, ScanDisk, Defrag, CCleaner, EasyCleaner, FreeRegistryRepair, System Information, Cacheman, Spybot S&D, Uninstaller, Eraser... Rename each icon in the folder... First cleaner you use the most would be "Cacheman Memory Restore".. rename it to "a-Ram"...
Second cleaner is "CCleaner".. renamed "b-Clean"...
Third is "EasyCleaner".. renamed "c-Easy"...
Forth is "Free Window Registry Repair".. renamed d-Reg...
Fifth is "e-Frag"... then "f-andisk"...

Ideally you would click the mouse, and the whole folder of tools would run on automatic... Majorgeeks has softwares that claim to do it in W89se, but it wouldn't work in mine.. it damaged the OS so bad I had to format C...

Another trick to try.. next time your hd took a hit.. and it'll still install softwares...
Have downloaded to CD's, all the softwares you've been wanting to test out, but don't want to chance it, because you know they are bad somehow.. You know you must format-C anyway.. might as well do a few tests that need be done, before you format the hd...

Another trick: Take a fresh loaded hd... Download all the softwares out-there that you wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole... and try a new browser, in the browsers list...
Now create a new desktop folder, and load a pix of an absolutely huge bum.. Title it, something that seems to be an imaginary new technology...
And have no private files in the hd.. just that butt pix... then go into sites you think might scan your computer's contents.. It would be neat if you could steer their invasion into a file of a toilet flushing, and somehow hold them in that file till they escape from your computer, by somehow making the same connection to their computer along their circuit, like in how I got-in to scan the bigfoot's head while it was scanning my 7-memory rivers, while it had me pinned and numbed......

Then sample your experimental OS, going on the Net, going into all the more aggressive websites, downloading junk to your heart's content... Just fill the unprotected hd with junk.. then play with it some, to get a good-feel for driving those new cyber entities, in the Internet's first world war... It's gonna make one h of game... Who do you bet-on taking it and running with first..? Who's gonna take it to the patent office first..? Soney?.. Mikrosoft?.. Nintender?.. an others?..

(don't answer: lets just wait and see what happens when the larger critters finds a fresh meal unattended... I'm bettin' the wealthy have no qualms about jumping on a poorman's back, and biting out a pound of flesh.. then face you grinning, and chewing, and drooling your bloods... Lets just wait and watch and see how tough the real pirates really are...)

______________

I'd like to see a software add-on plug-in, in W98se, that lets me just touch the cursor to a desktop icon to open it... Maybe a tag that I can left-clickclick onto each icon of choice.. Or a special folder that doesn't need a click to load.. just a "kiss"...
Oh My! I do enjoy how my mind works... I see soft red lips that kiss, animated cursor... It adds a little more personality to the PC... Plus, a software occasionally flashes a sweet little butt into the side of screen, from a background splash screen second screen hardware to provide background "pink-noise".., Pix enters from outside the screen.. in the background screen.. ever so slowly.. gracefully.. secretly.. silently.. teases awhile.. and leaves.. having left good feelings, and a prime grin...

Next rung is to make it game-quality interactive...
The hologram-rung will happen after I've had my lab for a few years, some time after I've built the first LE-Emitter...

Tweaks to W98se.... Very risky and dangerous if you don't know what you are doing... But if you must learn it, then do it in a spare hd.. cuz you know darn well that you are gonna kill the OS... but at least it'll be a fast dead OS...

Line up all your PC tools at the bottom of the desktop, in the order you use them...

My format is: Cacheman Memory , CCleaner, EasyCleaner, Free Window Registry Repair, DiskMinder, Defrag, CMDiskCleaner, Spybot...
Then the pix tools: PhotoPlus8, Irfanview, and WinWall... Line 'em up, then pull them into the Start bar...

Take caution with running "DiskMinder"... It is a very powerful registry tool... It does a lot of good, but it takes-out some of SeaMonkey's needed little things, and you need to uninstall SeaMonkey, and reinstall it... but what it does do to clean the OS is well worth that little annoyance...

There might be that slight chance that DM could destroy an OS which is over the line damaged and buggy in the first place... If that's the case then forget DM till you've done a clean load.. or try it and chance it.. and maybe even luck-out...
Personally, if I had a hd that couldn't handle DM, I would rather format it, to start fresh, with a solid OS, instead of wasting hours and effort trying to fix an OS that can't be fixed... And if you've got Ghost and Nero.. You can change the OS at the click of a mouse...

Whom ever wrote DM is someone to watch, for some new super softwares... That software writer is obviously a "state of the art" thinker...
