What sucks, is when you fail your test because the examiner has it in for you.
I was doing fine on my test, and then half way through the test, I noticed the examiner marking up how many minor faults I'd gotten, so I was thinking, okay what have I supposedly done this time, thinking I'd already done something to fail me.
But no, when I get back to the test centre, the examiner said I'd failed becuase I hit the curb, AFTER I saw him mark up my total minor faults.

Looks like he knew he was going to fail me anyway.

This was my second go at taking my test, because I had the same examiner last time and he failed me. According to him, I steered too far out when turning a corner.. (I'm sorry, but it was either that or hit the curb!) and he thought I was too close to parked cars (well what did he want me to do in a narrow street with cars parked on both sides of the road? stay away from the ones on one side, and hit the other ones?! or drive done the middle so I'm as far away from both lots of parked cars as I can be?!!)

So I'm jsut going to quit, since if I put in for it again, chances are I'm going to get the same examiner, who's jsut going to fail me again, and I've really had enough of him failing me. Even my instructor is annoyed that he failed me.

Oh, and I don't get how hitting the curb can fail you? If you just scuff it, then its not life threatening to anyone. Its not a big deal.

There are plenty of drivers out there who have passed their tests and they still dont know which way to turn the steering wheel to do simple things like reverse round a corner. That's much worse than hitting a bloody curb.

hi i failed my 1st test yesterday and i was so upset. I only got 3 minors but he failed me on something that wasn't really my fault.

It seemed i was doomed before i went in. As soon as my instructor saw the examiner he said ' oh no you've got him.' great start. He had just passed another young woman so i think he was after someone to fail.

I've booked another but is reassuring to hear all your stories!

I'd reccomend The Girls' Guide to Losing Your L Plates - how to pass your driving test by Maria McCarthy - extracts here www.mariamccarthy.co.uk/girls-guide.htm.

The idea is that you're not supposed to hit the curb when you're driving.
The fail is because you hit something.
If you can't miss a curb on a driving test you deserve to fail.
I'm glad I wasn't standing on that curb.

I'm glad I read your post. I took my road test a couple of weeks ago and the examiner yelled at me the entire time, giving me a nasty attitude and I didn't even talk back at her because I can't be rude like she is. I'm so traumatized, wasn't sure if I should try again... even though I've heard several times that I'm a good driver. Thanks for your inspiring post.

driving test

Postby DEBORAH.. on Sun Jan 20, 2008 4:29 pm

i have my test booked for the 29th. i am a nervouse driver and i am very worried about it, however my instructor says there is no reason whatsoever that i should fail my test. i have read through most of these posts now (took a while) and i just want to say that my instructor doesnt fit any of the boxes here. he has taken me out in the dark, made me drive through the moors in heavy fog, we have been out in heavy rain and snow and spend A LOT of time on the bypass. however the thing that bothers me most is that he has not taken me around even ONE test route. we were on a slip road i have never been on before last week and it was really long and i said oh i like this much better than the short ones and he said well this is part of a test route they like to use. i had never been on it before and asked him why we didnt run the test routes prior to the test like most people and his answer was im teaching you to drive not to drive a route. has anyone taken a test at chesterfield in derbyshire? maybe you could tell me the route you took. i will let you know the outcome of the test, keep your fingers crossed for me xx

Failed!!

Postby Lubylu on Wed Jan 30, 2008 6:41 pm

Just had my first test today and failed!! I failed before i even got out of the spot! The examiner told me to set off so i checked and started moving out towards the edge of the layby (not into the road), a car appeared coming up the road and the idiot slammed the breaks on! So i'd failed before i'd even started!   It wasn't as though i was causing any danger i was in the bloody layby   To make it worse he did it again! I was coming up a road and a lorry had pulled in, so i kept on going and the idiot of an examiner slammed the breaks on again   At the end of the test he said that i shoulsd have slowed down!! Y shud i slow down when the lorries is pulled in and the obstruction is on his side :?: :?:
I only got 2 bloody minors apart from that :!: :!: This man has really made me feel S*** :!: :!: The worst thing is that i had to wait 12 weeks for my test :!: So, another long, nervous wait for me. I will pass   Glad that theres others who understand :D :P :P

failed for the 3rd time

Postby kicia on Mon Mar 10, 2008 1:02 pm

Hi everybody,

I have failed 3 times. It is all about my nerves as i can drive very well. My instructor told me that I am a confident driver and cant understand why I keep failing.

I have taken another instructor, just to ask for an extra advice. He also said that my driving is ok, however he can see that at some times i am nervous.

What i can do?
My sister tried about 15 times, but finally passed. She did it in my origin country Poland. Her problems were nerves as well.
Do you know any medicine i can take before an exam, which wont affect my driving
thanks

I failed my road test

Postby angel2 on Tue Mar 11, 2008 7:08 pm

I had my first road test yesterday and failed. I drove too near the crosswalk line and I parallel parked too far away from the curb. I also have other minor mistakes that added to my points of mistakes that's why I failed. I felt so miserable and can't figure out why I made such mistakes ??? I was a bit nervous but I was aware of everything !!! The instructor was okay, I think it was me, I have to try harder and practice more. Right now, I will wait awhile before I take my second road test and hopefully ....it's the last time I'll take it.

wonder why that last person put "non" in front of his name - looks like it doesn't belong there.
