OK, my partner and i decided around April/May this year to try for a baby. Whilst I was on the pill, i could predict my period to the day! I would stop the pack on the wed, and by sunday i would have my 'period'. So i guessed it would be the same when i came off it, WRONG!

I didnt have a period until 7th August, whish lasted around 5 days, Then my nxt one wasn't until 1stOctober, which was also lighter than usual. I done a test betwen times, which was negative.

I've heard it can take up to a year before your body gets back to normal, but this is just annoyingly weird for me!

I've been on sites where it predicts your fertile days, but when it comes to asking the length of my average cycle, I just have to tick 28, because there isnt an option for 50days!

Is thre any other ways i can predict most fertile days? Oh one last thing, silly question maybe, but the fact that I've had 2 periods since coming off the pill, does that mean i HAVE ovulated since i came off it?

Sorry its so long!
Thanks,
Libby xx

Hi Libby...I seriously have the T-Shirt...cam off the pill August 2006, had a period 46 days later, and then 54 days after that, and then nothing for 8 months! Have since been diagnosed with PCO (No symptoms what-so-ever, apart from lack of period).

Also, if you are having periods, it does not necessarily mean that you are ovulating!

I would personally give your body more time to adjust to life without the pill - like you said it can take up to a year for the pill to get out of your system. There is also something called Agnus Castus that is a herbal tablet used to induce ovulation, and regulate periods. You could try that first for a few months...if it doesn't work, maybe you should see you GP...but a lot of GP's won't do ANYTHING until you have been trying for at least a year!

Hope that my story is really not the case for you, and that this helps a little. I know how frustrated you are x Crying or Very sad Cool

I have to echo what OffDutyNurse said...

I came off the pill in March 2004 and I've only had about 6 periods since then! I understand that I'm probably an unusual case, but it can take time.

I hope your body sorts itself out quicker than mine has Laughing

Thanks for the replies! I guess I should wait a few more months and see what happens. I just want evrything to be in order now! So I can start planning things. Also, Ive heard of POS, but what is it exactly? Can it affect fertility?

I hate how every month is a guessing game Sad

I suppose it will [hopeully] be worth it in the end though!

xx
