To Julie xxxxxx, What is happening is called mens lib. Some but not all men have realised that you girls are on a real winner when it comes to clothes, so in the true spirit of equality we have decided we want some of it as well. Nothing wrong in that is there?.
What I would like to know though is why women wear ever more frilly little knickers and bras - what is it that appeals to them about these items and why is wrong for men to want the same (bras excluded).
To TraceyI you really must remove your blinkers and not be shocked that men want a little bit more than trousers and shirt, trousers and shirt, trousers and shirt all day every day. Read what men can and will do in the name of fashion equality on this very forum. Skirts and high heels are old hat though. I don't wear them myself but thats only because its too cold and I don't want to injur my ankles.
PS I do love to feel soft nylon on my little willy, do you have a problem with it?.

I've already posted on here about why men don't wear skirts, or more to the point, why they stopped wearing them. It's not illegal, it's just despite a fairly free society, we are still narrow minded in it.

It was the industrial revolution that made them impractical for men. If women are of the opinion that men can't wear skirts, then how's about you women stop wearing trousers! More men regularly wear skirts than the number that play golf.

Some woman look silly in skirts, some men look 'cool'.

I have a friend who wears denim mini skirts, he looks ok. A short skirt is just like shorts without the bit in the middle! He has some of my old ones, and I buy him any one he fancies.

It's a case of sexual equality kicking in to suit certain people when it suits them.

Men can wear skirts, we are all born equal, nobody has the right to say what men and women should or shouldn't wear. Us women get all the choices, so why not men?

Please don't call a kilt a skirt, it's offensive and shows your sheer stupidity. Even men's kilt's differ from womens kilts, but you would be too thick to realise that.

Your posting supporting the idea of men being allowed, by society, to wear skirts.

Those who consider a kilt to be a skirt are actually looking at how you would define "skirt." However you try to define a skirt so it includes everything that would normally be accepted as one, it will always include a kilt. As a part Scot I recognise that a kilt differs enough from most skirts for people to think they're different but there are garments which look like kilts but are definitely skirts, and even an "instakilt" which is a beach towel that, when wrapped around someone, could be mistaken for a kilt. It's really semantics. Let's just get men back into wearing skirts whatever other people may call the item. My favourite skirt is called "an everyday kilt".

It was an ok reply until you insisted a kilt was a skirt. The word kilt to a point is derived from 'quilt'. It wasn't at one time just round your waist, but over your shoulder and doubled as a shelter.

Skirts can be long or short, buttoned, zipped, made of almost any material.

Kilts are worn wth etiquette, always worn to a specific length, have a certain weight and made mainly of wool. They are worn round the fullest part of the stomach, not the waist or hips. They are also damn expensive, and never go out of fashion.

When people think of men in skirts they seem to think of something long and flowery, rather than straight and of whatever length the wearer chooses.

When the tv series Cavegirl was shown here in the UK a few years ago, young men were seen it what was basically leather mini skirts, older men in longer ones. No one seemed to be bothered.

I'm all for men wearing skirts, I have a choice, why not men? I only posess one pair of jeans, one pair of suit trousers, and about 30 skirts!

Im in Scotland so its accepted as being quite normal although not entirely common on a day to day basis. Also the cost reflects the durability of the garment. A good kilt will last a lifetime and never go out of fashion.
Another important benefit is that ladies seem to like to see a man in a kilt which is very good for the self esteem.

I love seeing a man in a kilt too!

My friend (doing this cycle run in memory of his daughter, click the link below and donate ) he likes wearing the kilt, but can't understand why people make stupid remarks when he is in public in Scotland, yet can wear it in England hassle free!

He was in a pub once and a woman lifted his kilt with a great force from behind, he got a deep scratch from his knee to the top of his leg caused by her engagement ring, and the barmaid got to wear the pint she had just poured him! If he tippy toed up behind a woman to see what she had on underneath, he'd be locked up and classed as a sex offender. Women however seem to have the right to lift kilt's, and men have to accept it, even in front of children...

Getting back to the point, it's not a case of 'men can't wear skirts' they can, it's society that has a job accepting it.

I keep hearing 'this is the 21st century!' Just a pity we can't let go Victorian values and let people be as they want to be. I heard a song from 'Billy Elliot' on Sunday, on Elaine Paiges' show on Radio 2, it was 'Express Yourself'.
