The reason you fail to see the logic of that is because you do not understand your not supposed to have premarital SEX.

You f*cked up from the start!

Stop applauding yourself. If you were worthy of it, others would do it.

If I had the abortion simply because I wanted to, I would have been fine with it.

But I've come to realize so many people don't get abortions because they want to, but because they feel they have no other choice.
The thougthts ran through my head of "what will people think of me if I give it away/ up for adoption", "What if my career or relationship is effected", " What if my family and friends look down on me"

ALL external reasons. Abortion is a personal decision that should be made out of freedom of choice not out of feeling you have no choice. Whether an abortion or even having a baby is done because you feel you have no choice, that it is the wrong reason.

I can't help but wonder how many people got abortion, or carried a baby to term, for the sake of what others thought.

Good point
Everyone I know who had an abortion said it was because they felt they HAD to. EVERYONE I know who had abortion. They did not do it out of free choice if you ask me.

I stumbled across this board and I feel the same way as a lot of these women feel. After having an abortion. I feel like I can never forgive myself. It's odd because before I had an abortion I always felt like it was a womens right. That nobody should take that away from them. Now that I've had one, I just I feel completely opposite. It's the worst thing anyone can ever go through. It's been about a year now. I torment myself by going on line and reading about it. Before I ever had one, i seriously had now clue what I was doing. I'm not stupid. I just didn't know. I have a pretty liberal family, and liberal friends. It's sad. I hate myself, I hate what I've done. I hated everyone who told me they though that I was doing the right thing. Not a day goes by I don't regret my decision. Not even an hour. This is a year later. Everything makes me think of my baby. When you have it done, they don't show you the ulra-sound. You go in knowing nothing. And not until afterwards when the guilt sets in do you really start to feel what you've done. My life will never be the same.

I also had an abortion and regret it.
I was young and my family was afraid of what the family and church would think

Over the years I have become against organized religion and abortion.
I feel that the prejudices in society and in the church, against children born out of wedlock, is what causes the "need" for abortion.

The church frowns on you having a child out of wedlock or even sex for that matter and your called a sinner. Then your knocked up and they the church have already labelled you so you know the only way to avoid being labelled a sinner is to have an abortion.

If a statistic was ever done I bet there are more abortions in work places wihere there is little to no job security or maternatity leave, for those who are pregnanet.

In short, if your reason for having an abortion is simply because you want one - fine. That is your choice and the law lets you have an aboriton.

However, if you want an abortion because you AFRAID OF PREJUDICES IN SOCIETY - IE. What your family, friends, employer, furture employers or church - then you are choicing abortion because you actually feel you have no choice.

Abortion may be seen as some sort of freedom by some, but I think it is a way out for those who really don't have freedom in our prejudice world.
