Well there's many things that could be wrong with it, before uninstalling anything make a backup of all your important files etc.
Then run your anti-virus software, if you don't have any I recommend AVG, its free and easy to use, and is brilliant with flushing out viruses, you can download this free of charge from www.download.com .
Then I'd run my Anti-virus software, again if you don't have any I recommend Spybot - Search & Destroy and/or Ad-Aware SE Personal, these are also free and can be obtained from the same site.

After these have been run Id clean the computer of all the temporary files etc. This can be done be opening up My Computer, then right clicking on the hard-drive icon or name (this should read (cSmile or something similar). Check all the boxes and click OK, this will get rid of more rubbish that could be conflicting with Excel.

Then I's run Disk Defragmenter which is already on your computer.

If after all this it still doesn't work you'll have to uninstall office then reinstall it.

Hope this helps

P.S. Make sure all software used is upto date!

If all else fails, you could also download Openoffice and work on your excel files using that. I've found it to be a pretty reliable alternative.

That's the self-repair triggering. Just feed it the office CD and there shouldn't be a problem, unless it's a dodgy copy of course...
