| Just wondering is there a limit of terms that Englands Prime Minister can serve? Mr. Blair just quit after ten years and how was his replacement chosen? |

No need for a limit on terms really - because after two the people of this country usually cannot wait to see the back of them - it is far more classier to leave with dignity, a whopping pension - along with a sinecure position in the pipeline, then to leave in tears as your party turn on you as you protest U2 Brutus!
They picked the new Prime Minister around about 15 years ago - probably through some crude initiation ceremony! |

| Difficult to look elsewhere when the Tory and Libs have been so absolutely poor in opposition. I cannot believe that Labour have gotten away with so much and it is all massively unchallenged. Just look at the tax-take at present - it is so high, and yet there is nobody in opposition questioning where all this money has gone???? Despite the PFI money that has been raised outside of the tax-take and needs to be paid back at some point soon. This Government has all but bankrupt the UK. Bizarre situation. |

No, there isn't a limit and how the PM is chosen is down to the ruling political party. This time round in fact there was no choosing to do as nobody stood against Gordon Brown.
Technically the PM is not actually the head of state here, the queen is. Although for all practical purposes it's the PM who is in charge. |

The PM is chosen by the Parlement then by the party in control? I know the Queen/King is for life and is a family. Prince Charles and then Prince William are the next King of England.
I thought the public elected the PM. Thanks for the information. I liked Mr. Blair thought he did a good job. |

How has he (the Labour government) done a good job? The economy is where it is off the back of massive borrowing, which is off the back of massive increases in house-prices.
This is totally unsustainable. We cannot just keep borrowing money ad-infinitum. At some point it all has to be paid back. By borrowing money like this we are bringing forward our future spending power. This means that in the future we will have greatly diminished spends and the Country will go into a recession.
House prices are so high. This means that people who buy a house are going to be struggling with a huge mortgage payment. To make matters worse, so-say inflation is low. This means that the huge mortgage payment will stay huge, in relation to peoples' incomes, for a long time. More misery heaped on the unsuspecting voter.
Taxes. At some point we will get taxed for breaking wind. Just look at the stealth taxes in place, speed cameras, pensions, council tax hikes, insurance, flights, etc, etc...
The NHS is the biggest employer in Europe. All that money put aside to improve it and what happens? Greedy doctors and nurses demand huge pay-rises.
Huge divide between the well off and the not so well off. Why do you think we have a gang-culture forming within our society? What about all the kids leaving school who cannot read or write properly? Hoodies and binge-drinking on street corners? Knife crime? Gun crime? What government creates a disaffected home-grown youth to such an extent that they allow the above to happen, and then open their arms to the whole of eastern Europe to take up the jobs that our own work-shy youth somehow manage to not have to do.....?? Where is the moral crusade that Tony should have been on to help our own youngsters?
Fudging figures. CPI/RPI fudged to keep interest rates artificially low. Everyone is complaining bitterly about their disposable incomes being eroded. This is because 'real' inflation is far higher than what CPI is suggesting. Unemployment and useless uni degrees. All to keep the unemployment count tame, when the reality is that it's a lot higher, but as a disaffected youth hanging about on street corners doing petty crime, somehow the count doesn't take them into account.
We have just been through 10 years of growth and prosperity and what have we got to show for it? Huge debts, massive tax-take and unhappiness. It should have been the other way around. Growth should means paying down debts, loosening the tax-take and prosperity. Higher taxes and debts are there for when things get tougher. What will happen when growth stops being positive, as it has to because growth off the back of borrowing cannot last for ever, and we as individuals need to borrow to make ends meet - sorry but the money-tree at the bottom of the garden has shed all its leaves. Same with the government - can't borrow any more because they are already pushing past the limits, and that don't include the massive PFI money raised to build new hospitals and stuff.
Iraq - the cost of war and where is the benefit to Us or Iraqi people? Face it, there is no benefit whatsoever. Just a huge con to re-establish some sort of footing in the oil-rich states. And now look, huge car bombs found in London just. Great. Nothing like making ourselves prime number one targets. What a bright move that was....!
Sorry, what were you saying about Blair doing a good job??? |

| Gee I just wanted to know if there was a limit on the time the Prime Minister could stay in office. I like Mr. Blair. The position is a lot like our President Bush Wrong on all counts no matter the outcome. I don't care for President Bush He is too conservative for me. |
