Hi all,
Lastnight my partner and I decided to try for a baby well I have stopped taking my pill mid way through the pack and wondered what people's experiences are about length of time it takes to get pregnant after stopping the pill?
I've read a lot and obviously I'm aware it can take from 3 months to a year or more to become pregnant!
Just wondered if people on here have become pregnant immediately after stopping?
I'm so excited I want it to happen now!!
I'm currently 26 and my partner is 27 and I have been on the pill for 10 years if that helps.
I look forward to your responses.

Hi,
I came of the pill in the last week of July and got my periods last week. Even we are trying for a baby. I hard that some women get pregnt soonf after they stop having pills and for some it takes months and for some years.well really it is different for everyone. We tried last month but got my periods on time i am going to keep trying and lets see what happens next month.Docs say if you are planning to have a baby to start taking Folate tablets which will assist you in having a healthy baby. we both ar e in the same boat. I am 25 and my husband is 31 we have a 3 year old son and we want a beautiful girl to complete our family..i get ssooo excited even when i think about ittt
Best of luck and lets keep each other posted |

Well it has been a month now since I stopped the pill. I had the withdrawel bleed about 4 days after and now I am patiently waiting for my 'real' period to arrive!
The only thing is, in the last week or so I have become so extremely tired and have started to break out in a few spots and I NEVER get spots
Has anyone else had any side effects from coming off the pill?
Any comments will be appreciated.

well.. it depends on ur body & a lot of other factors!!
i was on the microgynon.. just for abt 2 yrs.. came off it in last oct & had just 1 cycle after that.. n i conceived in the the next one!!!
so.. it all depends on a lot of things..
i know of frens who have had regular periods right after coming off the pill but not conceived for a year and are still trying !!!
if you are that worried.. you should go n see the GP.. maybe she can offer you further help!!!! |

I came off the Pill 'Yasmin' the end of Oct '06, after deciding to try for a baby. The amount of time between periods has been firstly, 6 weeks, then 7.5 weeks, now I am on week 12.5 and nothing....
I am wondering when I will begin to be 'regular', the amount of time between periods is getting longer not shorter, and now it has been over 6 months since I came off the pill. I am getting very fustrated. Has anybody come off Yasmin and does anybody have any advice to offer?
Thank you.

Hi Guest22...I came off Microgynon August 2006, had one period 46 days later, then one 54 days after that, and nothing since! That last period was on the 10th November!!! I am booked in for an outpatients Gynae appt next month at our hospital! Believe me, I understand your frustration!!! We too have now been TTC for 8 months in all! I ahev had an Ultrasound scan that shows I may have PCOS, but I am waiting until my next period decides to put in an appearance before I can have a blood test to confirm!
I am so sorry you are going through this...have you made an appt with your GP? Why don't you become a member, join the pregnancy threads in the members section, and feel free to PM me? Good luck xxx |

I'm like 'offdutynurse', I have PCOS and have not been on the pill since giving birth to our first child two years ago.... and after 15 months of trying... still no baby on the way.
i am frustrated as all the women at work are talking about trying to conceive baby number two (mind you most of them are in their mid 30's) and I'm just coming up to 25...
Anyway, I;m back on my tablets again (oh the prescription charges!).... so fingers crossed, with my target weight loss of 2 stone at 4lbs per week then I'll be back to less than pre-pregnancy weight.
Good luck to you all. |

I am so frustrated.
I came off the Pill in June 2007 and had a normal period in July, August and my last one was on 21st September.
I am 28 and we are ttc. I haven't had a period since December. I have done numerous tests which have been negative and also had a negative blood test. I have not been stressing out until now. I really feel like I have put on weight around my stomach. I have been getting strange feelings under my ribs, mostly when I am in bed and turn over.
Has anyone had this? Could I be pregnant? |

Hi,
I was on 'Yasmin' for about 9 months. Since i've been off it (13 months) my periods have been very irregular. Sometimes it's 30 days, sometimes 43! it's very frustrating coz i can't work out when i'm ovulating and it also gives me false hopes since we've been ttc.
I just hope that this months is the month for me! |

I just wanted to express my disapointment of ever going on the pill at all.
I'm 29 and me and boyfriend would love a baby. I thought i was doing everything by the book. I went and got my self checked out for STI'S
Etc... every thing ok, started taking folic acid. And decided the right time to come off the pill was dec 07. After stopping microgoyne i felt so bad the first month i actually thought i was pregnant, i had nausea, increased sense of smell. sore boobs, stomach cramps, dizzyness. I really thought there was a chance i might have been pregnant, no such luck at all, after having a blood test and having me ovaries checked, i was told by the nurse checking my ovaries that it could take a year to even get yr periods back, let alone get pregnant.
I feel absoulty gutted and cheated i know it can take people a year to fall pregnant when comming off the pill. but i never expected i might have to wait a year just to even get my periods back. in the mean time i get to feel like crap all the time,i dont fell dizzy or sick, but have to constantly put up with feeling bloated and a really sore chest and breats. If i had of known it would take this long even to get my periods back i would have come off the pill months ago.
I feel so depressed, i would be happy just with getting my periods back
let alone have a baby. I never knew how much the pill messes you body up, i vow never to go on it ever again. |
