How does he get paid? Cash in hand or straight into a bank account?

My fella had an obsession with buying crap. All kinds of stuff we didnt need. So in the end I had no choice but to take his bank card off him. I paid all the bills out of it and what was left I give back to him.

You never mentioned wether you have sat and talked to him about it. If you havent try that.

Gosh, when i read your problem it was as if a wrote it myself. My husband has the same problem. He is also a good man and great with the kids... but when it comes to money, he is completely irresponsible. We had a terrible fight yesterday because i got a call from a collections agency looking for him. I found out, the hard way, that he has not been paying bills and they were about to ruin our credit rating. He says he doesnt know why he behaves this way... and that it's easier to avoid the problem rather than deal with it. All i know is, along with being furious, i dont trust him and that is a horrible way to live. I have canceled all his credit cards and insist that his paycheck go directly into my account. I pay all the bills now and he gets an allowance. It's like having another child. He says he will prove to me that he can change... I guess we'll see.
good luck to you.

Like you, my husband is great around the house, washing, ironing, helping in every way he can (can't do fixing though!), anyway he has the same problem with money. He cut up all his credit cards and consolidated his loans, now I have found out he has got another credit card and the statements for this card are being sent to his work address (so I can't see them!). He just consolidates a loan, then gets another, so things have spiralled out of control. I have come to the very painful decision of divorcing him, even though I love the bones of the man and after 20 years of marriage it will hurt me in a way I can't imagine. He said he would change, and I said 'prove me wrong I would LOVE to be proved wrong', If you proved me wrong I would be SO proud, I would tell everyone I met what a strongminded person you are - sadly it was not meant to be.
