awww thanks! :bighug:

no, i phoned my local early pregnancy place, and i need to be refered by my dcc, and the womens hospital, said the same thing, even if i pay to go private i will still need him to refer me. it's a no win situation.

i have to phone to speak to my gp at 11.30 this morning, so we'll see, i'm not holding my breath.......

Juicy Lucy...this sounds terrible! Your GP and Practice Nurse sound appalling! I am also a Practice Nurse, and I know my surgery (GP's, receptionists, and us nurses) would bend over backwards to help someone in your situation!!!

I suggest if you do not get the answers you want that you write a letter to the Practice Manager at your surgery, explaining what has happened, that nobody has been particularly helpful, and that you are obviously really not happy! Write formally, and don't be stroppy, just in case it goes further! They have to act on written complaints!

I am so sorry you have to go through this! :bighug:

How horrible!! I'd be going nuts not knowing for sure whether I'm pregnant or what 's going on!! How can people be so uncaring about your situation... :?:

Wish you all the best in finding out answers SOON! and hopefully you do have a nice healthy baby developing in you!! Please let us know how it turns out!

have just managed to actually speak to my dr!!!!!!!! yippee!!!!!!

he was very nice, and is going to phone the womens hospital now, and phone me back, when i mentioned how unhelpful and rude everyone i've spoke to have been, he was sympathetic!

i'm waiting for the call now.... fingers crossed for a scan.......

still waiting.... this is driving me mad!

offduty nurse. the gp and nurses have actually been ok, it's just that the nurses couldn't help me, and said i needed to speak to the dr, and the dr is impossible to get hold off, he's so closely guared by the receptionists and secretary. but when i have spoke to them they have been polite and understanding at least... if not always helpful.

it's all the other people i've spoke to, all the receptionists, and secretarys, and people who work on desks, they've ranged from bad mannered to down right nasty. one in particular yesterday was awful, i only siad 'my name is... and i'm phoning for an apppointment' and she responded as if i said 'i've just murdered all your family'.

i actually do wish to complain... but who would i complain too? as it's been a mixture of staff at the surgery and at the local hosptial.

You can speak to PALS, Patient Advice and Liason Services, at the hospital...they are amazing! Will always give you the advice that you need!

At the GP surgery - the Practice Manager as I said before! Good luck hon!

Let us know what happens x

AAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

finally got sick of waiting for my gp to phone, so i phoned them. i was put on hold for 10 mins before i'd even said hello... and then directed to the secreatry. who informed me that the dr had said i would not be having a scan at the womens hospital and that they wouldn't see me (i pointed out my husband had already phoned them twice and they said they would) and then proceeded to very politely lose my temper!

i catalouged all the people i have spoken to, and the manner in which they spoke to me, i strongly outlined my siatuation, and implored her to put herself in my postion, and pointed out i had been nothing other than polite with all the countless people who i have spoken to, who did not have such good manners!

she said i needed to speak to the dr!!!!!!!!

i said i will not phone to speak to the dr, as yesterday i was directed thru 4 different members of staff, and when i fiinally spoke to the last one, she said i needed to speak to the dr, buthe had gone. therefor could she arrange for the dr to phone me!

apparently my dr now thinks that it is fine for wait for me to wait until the 12 week scan (bear in mind i have not seen, or been told to book, and appointment with my midwife yet, as i was last year with my daughter, as i presume he wishes to find out whether or not i am pregnant first!)

i am sooooo angry and frustrated i think i might burst!!! and all people keep saying is that they can't help me! but surely somone can.

offdutynurse, does my dr not hold any sway at the hospital? can he not insist on a scan? he is maintaining that it is the hospitals who are being difficult.
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning!!!

Oh my god. Write in a complaint immediately. I think you have been treated so badly. Yes, there's bureaucracy and procedures etc etc but the treatment you've had from the secretaries/receptionists is disgraceful.

They've done nothing but make an awful situation even more upsetting for you.

Be strong and kick ass. (Politely so you have the upper hand though.) :x

hiya.

finally calmed down enough to revisit the subject lol.

i have a scan this tuesday, and i see the midwife on monday. i'll be just shy of 11 weeks, i had a long chat with my gp, who bless him seemed as frustrated as me, once i actually got chance to speak to him. it would seem the hospital just refuse to see me any sooner as i'm not bleeding, the gp had spoke to them too and had no joy. so i just had to resign myself to waiting, but it was good to speak to the dr and let out my frustration, and i felt heard and understood, in all honesty he was very good, and had a moan about the strict proceedures himself, and how bad it was that the hospital and 'desk' staff i had spoken too had been very uncaring.

i looked into the cost of a private scan, as my parents had said they would be happy to pay if i wanted in one, but the soonest they would be able to get me in was only a week before my booked scan, and it was quite expensive. not that they minded at all, but it made me feel guilty, so i decided to wait.

i've tried to get in a positive frame of mind this week, and feel a bit better, and i'm really looking forward to the scan. hopefully everything will be fine, and we can settle down to looking forward to the baby coming.

i'll let you know how i get on when i go.

thanks for your kind words everyone! :bighug:
