I had one of these, too. It needed speeding up so I put a Cortina engine in it, and painted it bright yellow. Then it was really snappy! But it was so distinctive that everybody knew when I was up to something.

Citroen BX GTI.
Had it as a company car from new. It kept stopping for no apparent reason. Even the main agents couldnn't get it right. I finally found the fuel pump relay was intermittent.
The brakes were terrible. They were the same as all the lower models in the range, not ventilated discs, and they were'nt up to the performance so fade was a regular experience.
The HT system didn't like getting wet.
The roadholding and handling wasn't up to the GTI tag. All the running gear was the same as the more mundane versions.
The headlights were not up to the performance. A set of auxiliary driving lights sorted that.
A piece of soundproofing came off and fell onto the accelerator pedal holding it open at 70 on the motorway. That was interesting.
The seats lacked support and were not particularly comfortable.
Even the radio reception was poor.
It had some good points. The self leveling suspension worked well until it started leaking fluid.

If you didn't want to be noticed, why paint it bright yellow?

1 - 1966 Chrysler Imperial.....it was all I could afford at 16 in 1990, so for $500 bucks, it was lousy, but wheels.

2 - 1986 Ford Ranger.....ex company delivery vehicle that was already days away from the scrapheap when I bought it. Gaffer tape kept it together.

3 - 1994 GMC Sonoma. Transmission blew up about 500 Km over the warranty and GM wouldn't come good for it......even though it had 600 Km on it when I bought it from the dealer and only 59,900 KM were actually mine.

Screw the North American vehicles....I'm driving european from now on!

Do you have to ask?

The obvious answer is because he is a chav. Laughing

1993 Ford Bronco. Every three weeks it had to go into the shop, and the real depressing thing, it was never the same thing twice. I couldn't claim it as a lemon! Forever a Chevy man! I'm looking to get an H2 in a year or so, but since Hummer is GM as well as Chev, I am still loyal! Smile

74 Austin Marina. Transmission, alternator (3x), speedo cable, tires (could not stay aligned), clutch master cylinder, dash switches and I can't remember what else broke. This all in 2 years.

90 Ford Aerostar. Engine valve covers leaked, AC compressor self destructed, transmission had to be rebuilt, emissions system kept causing it to stall. Ford could not/would not fix it.

My grandfather once had a '76 or '77 AMC Pacer. Truly one of the ugliest vehicles ever made.

Hi there, having been a driver for over forty years I have owned and driven many makes and models. Going back to my early days I drove a couple of Fiats which were really good cars and stylish as well, envy of some of the boys. For many years I drove cortinas and granadas, which I loved. As to the worst, in reverse order comes a standard, a vauxhall and my moment of madness a Lada Wink but it only lasted three weeks and then I was back to a Ford Sierra. Very Happy
