PC DVD drives are region free at first... so they can be sold internationally without having to have specific models for each region, they allow 5 region changes before they lock to which every region disc is in the drive... unfortunately, this BS is imposed on drive manufactueres by the DVD-forum, the guys who own the rights to DVD design...

there is software out there you can use to crack your drive so its region free, but it will require both a program that will run to stop windows region pretection, and you will need to flash the drives firmware - which can destroy the drive if not done correctly...

google up "DVD region free" and you should be able to find the software youll need

This works well...

No need to change firmware of drive, it does the necessary 'conversion/decryption' while the disc plays.
