iv just started my 2nd pack of cerazette, but for about 10 days now iv been on my period, well more like spotting, its very light and most of the time its brown,
my question is,will this get better if i carry on taking it?as the light period is really great, but its so long compared to my normall periods, and im on this so i can get the implant in 2 months!
another question,if my periods do carry on like this on cerazette, will they be like this on the implant, and i no none of you can guess what my cycle will be like but from experiance have yours got better?
i really dont wanna stop this pill as apart from a few headache iv had no bad side effects!
thanks guys!X

I mentioned i had ONE migraine last YEAR and ive been put on this pil. Needless to say im very unimpressed. I wonder if i should get a second opinion as this is a clinic im going to not my doctors. What does everyone think? The one ive been on was perfect!!!

When I went to my clinic, they asked why I was on progesterone only and not a normal combined pill. I mentioned that I had had 2 migranes when I was younger (mid teens) that were of the visual disturbance variety (ie seeing blind spots and flashing lights). The doctor had told me I wasnt to go on the combined pill due to these migranes. However, the clinic said that as they were in my teens they were most likely to be immature migranes where the brain is getting used to the high levels of hormones teens get and that I could try the combined pill with a low oestrogen level.
I havent tried it yet, I was giving my body a break from the cerazette, but was told that if you have a migrane during your period on the combined pill, then it is somehow not entirely related to the pill. If it is in the middle of your pill cycle then get it checked out.
I would say go get a second opinion if you're not happy.

I've been taking this pill for three years now. For the first two months of taking this pill, I bled constantly for 3-4 weeks at a time. The periods were very light though.
After my body go used to Cerazette, my periods stopped completely. Every three months after i finished a pack, I would take a weeks break where I would have a little bleed. I've just gone 6 months without a break but two weeks ago I decided to come off the pill and let my periods go back to normal for a while. Typically when I came off the pill for a week, my periods would start straight away and if i missed a pill i would also get a mini period.
I'm getting a bit worried that my periods wont go back to normal soon as i'm trying for a baby now.
How long does it normally take for periods to go back to normal after being on the pill for a long time?
Quote """"""I've been on Dianette for the past 9 months for suspected PCOS (dr said hormone tests weren't always accurate, so it isn't confirmed, but had symptoms eg excess hair, difficult to lose weight, irregular periods) but as it has had no effect on the hair problem, and because my weight and blood pressure are a bit too high to safely take it or another combined pill, my doctor recommended the mini-pill instead (or injections which I didn't want, and would rather not rely on condoms esp now I'm so used to not having to) which i am due to start directly after my last Dianette pack runs out (3 weeks). Now having read this forum it seems some people actually develop PCOS-type symptoms from taking this pill I'm wondering if it's the right one for me and why my doctor didn't mention this? Will it just exacerbate them? Also after seemingly never being able to lose weight, I've lost 7kg after glandular fever last month which really encouraged me to carry on trying (so maybe I can get back on normal pills) but am worried this will come straight back on with Cerazette, though I intend to keep eating well and get more exercise. """"
Hi
I hav been on micronor for the past 7 years and recently went to the doctors to describe symptoms i was having including excess hair, irregular periods etc. She decided that i was likely to have PCOS andthat i should change pill to reflect this and put me on Cerazette.
For the first month i didnt really experience any symptoms, however i now realise that the headaches i was having were not due to work but the pill, i then had a 2 week period which was a nightmare - i'm used to 4-5 days. In addition i think the facial hair may be getting worse! I've had really bad headaches on the lead up to my period and throughout it, in addition it was very difficult to predict what type of period day i was going to have - some days were very light and others quite heavy which made it very difficult to know what sanitary protection to use and carry with me.
Are there any other PCOS sufferers who have been prescribed this and if so have you found that symptoms are increased? decreased?

i was having a few problems with my periods after having my daughter 6 yrs ago including a hospital visit due to dysmenorreah and scans to find the problem. On top of that it seemed that when i ovulated i was extremely nauseous and moody. practically all of the combined pills made me sick or have headaches so my GP said i am oestrogen sensitive and suggested cerazette.
I started it about 12 weeks ago and was scared of being sick as all the others had made me ill. However my moods got better and the bleeding was every 2-3 weeks but it has now been about 29 days since last bleed. I know the packs say its normal to not bleed at all but am still thinking "pregnant" Any advice?

Just wondering if anyone has ever been on any other progesterone only pill and had bleeding problems? i.e constant bleeding?? and then been prescribed cerazette? I have just been to the doctor and been given cerazette. I have not started it yet and am a little aprehensive.
4 Years ago I was given a progesterone only pill and bled and bled and bled...then had the mirena coil (just awfull although it stopped my periods) and had it taken out as sex was an absolute NO GO!! Have not taken anything since and just used condoms. I am really worried I may bleed too much every week like I did on the other pill but have been reasured by the doctor that I shouldn't with this. Then I read this thread!!!!
So has anyone ever been on any other pogesterone pill that made tham bleed all the time then been prescribed this and not had any bleeding irregularities????
i have been on cerazette for nearly two months now and i hate it. i had a period the first week i took the first pill and nothing since, i feel like i am pregnant which is making me paranoid and depressed as i cannot afford to be pregnant as i am a university student. i am constantly bloated, gaining weight, don't bleed and am getting bigger boobs, i was already a size F before taking this and did not want to get any bigger. Some people seem to be happy on this pill but i don't see how. with all these symptoms i am misserable.
Has anyone had similar symptons and tried something new which they are happy with???????

i have been on this pill since oct 07 first 3 months were fine but in april i bled for 7 days stopped for 7 days bled for 7 days must have been bleeding for at least 21 days! then was ok but again in july have been bleeding for 12 days and we're only on the 24th!!!!!!! saw my doctor in june for check up and told her off the irregular bleeding and was just told see how goes on in next few months! has anyway else suffered with this
I started taking Cerazette 2.5 months ago because none of the other pills have agreed with me.
I had a period after the first week, which lasted a week, and then nothing for around 6 weeks. I've now been "spotting" (it's actually gradually decreasing in darkness discharge, which is a bit disgusting if you ask me!) for over 2 weeks with no sign of it stopping any time soon.
I've put on around 1.5 stones (and now have stretchmarks on my inner thighs as a result ), although that is also down to Olanzapine, and have gone up 2 cup sizes. My breasts are very tender for the most part, and I can't sleep on my side without a support underneath them.
I've never had that bad skin, but have noticed my T-zone is a lot more oily, and I sweat far more since being on this pill.
I'm going to stick it out for the full 3 months, but if I'm still "bleeding" by the end of this packet I think I'll be coming off it and trying something else.
My sympathy goes out to all of you who are experiencing negative side-effects.

I started taking Mercilon 3 years ago, not for contraception but because I had extremely heavy periods that were becoming unbearable, but I recently switched to Cerazette as I wanted an oestrogen-free pill.
I have only been taking Cerazette for 35 days but I've had bleeding for 17 days altogether. I was told to expect "intermittent" bleeding, but I'm a bit worried that 17 days out of 35 is too much? The cramps are pretty bad and it's making me very tired and run-down.
Is this to be expected until my body gets used to the new pill?
I know I should probably stick it out for at least 3 months and see if it settles, but another part of me just wants to go back to the easy time I had while I was taking Mercilon
