i was on cezarette for about 6 months and didnt have a period, if you read the information leaflet that comes with it, it does say it can lighten you periods or stop them completely. Or it might just be the fact that your system hasnt got into the jist of a new pill

I was on Cerazette for about 8 months and I had no periods the whole time, I think it has mucked up my body though as I was healthy before I took it, I developed polycystic ovarian syndrome and I had problems down in that area and for the past 2 years I have been off of it I'm still having problems.

I have been prescribed this pill, not for a contraception as my husband has had a vasectomy, but because i suffer with depression and i am sure it is linked to my periods. My mood changes are so bad that i just cant cope so i am wanting to stop my periods and see how i go. Has anyone else used this drug for this purpose and did it work?

I am slightly concerned as they say that i might just bleed, when ever and then stop and then start again. I suffer with TSS and hate using ST's so i really hope i dont get this. Any info from other users would be appreciated. Also do you put on weight????????????

Regards

I too have just stopped taking Cerazette after 6 months, as I have experienced no bleed during this time.
My GP told me only 3 days ago that there is no evidence at all that Cerazette stops your bleed, as any pill will mimic the usual monthly 'fake' bleed as part of it regulating your cycle.
Therefore the loss of periods means there is some kind of underlying problem, in her opinion.
I have stopped taking this so I can tell whether anything untoward has happened over the 7 years I have been on [various brands] of CPs.

Worst case scenario out there is that there is some premature ovarian failure (they do like to scare you them doctors) or, in my case, prolonged stress can cause your periods to stop for 6 months or more (man trouble - typical eh!!!).

There are some good herbal remedies which are supposed to help with 'amenorrhea' (the medical term for two or more missed periods) which include Yarrow, Agnus Castus and Blue Cohosh (NOT Black). I am thinking of trying one of these to see if this will regulate my cycle as clearly all is not right. I'd rather not go down the whole hormone tests route just yet, she said wait 3 months and get back and see what happens.

There can also be issues with thyroid problems, lack of zinc, lack of vitamin B6 and also the over-production of the hormone 'prolactin' - all of which can contribute to the amenorrhea.

But now I know others have experienced the same thing as me I might also just sit and wait a few weeks to see if the old cycle gets itself back to normal - it could happen!

I hope this helps some of you lasses out there as I've had a worrying few days now, it never even crossed my mind until I spoke to the GP who assures me it is NOT this pill that is causing the problem???

That is interesting Hellsbells. I took Cerazette for a few months and had a bleed every month, came off it for a week cause I was gonna quit completely then changed my mind and after that I didn't have any more bleeds which I found puzzling although it does say in the leaflet that you may not bleed at all. That kinda annoys me I'd rather have a bleed as not although many women I know say they'd rather not lol.

Hi. I switched to Cerazette a week ago as I could no longer take the pill due to sudden onset of migraines. Wasnt really happy with this choice so i'm a bit pessimistic at the thought of irregular periods!. It is nice to hear that some of you have had no periods at all as I would say its better than having irregular ones.

I have been taking it for a week and started bleeding three days ago and having headaches- not really been moody though. Izzy- I hope your bleeding stops soon-I will let u know if I have the same problem. My nurse assured me that my periods would settle and become more regular.

In terms of medical advice, I find that you get a much better viewpoint and reassurance on these matters from Family Planning clinics rather than visiting the doctor as often they can be quite old fashioned and also not have time. Also I have learnt to seek several opinions and am now looking for information on Cerazette form real life people!. Can anyone tell me the of the effects when they first took Cerazette? Confused

I am back on Cerazette almost a week after getting the Implanon implant removed. Apparently Cerazette and Implanon are very similar in their side effects yet I was fine on Cera in the past and had probs with Implanon. I can't take combined Pill anymore cause of being diabetic etc which I am annoyed about because my periods were always regular and painless using combined Pill.

With Implanon most women either bleed continuously or not at all so it's prob same with Cera. I have a feeling I am going to have no periods while taking this same as Implanon and I'm just gonna chill about it and think of the dosh I will save etc Laughing .

I have been taking Cerazette for 18 months now and as its about the 20th pill I have tried Im findind it to be the best. I have has no period the whole 18 months, no pmt and less migraine attacks. After researching this pill on the internet it seems that as its one of the most expensive POP to produce it isnt recommend by doctors! Spread the word.

I took Cerazette for over a year now after being told I couldn't take the normal pill because of my high blood pressure.

I had no bleeds since I began taking it, gained a fair amount of weight and I also developed acne in my late 20's! Not to mention the almost none existent sex drive (that must be how it stops you getting pregnant, lol!) I decided to take myself off it after I began getting breathless!

All these symptoms didn't happen straight away, just slowly over a period of time.

After about 2-3 weeks the acne seemed to disappear and so did the weight (although this took a bit longer, damn it!)

Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend it!

I stopped a couple of weeks ago and have never felt better. I have never felt so chilled out, first i thought it was in my head but when people started commenting on it i knew it wasn't.
I used to be anxious about everything, i'd worry myself into a frenzy over the smallest thing.
So glad i've stopped, just need to lose the weight now????
